Is charging to less than max still the recommendation?

I was reading through the instruction manual, and limiting charging to 100% was not mentioned (unless I missed it). I did find this:

"Model Y has one of the most sophisticated battery systems in the world. The most important way to preserve the battery is to LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE PLUGGED IN when you are not using it. This is particularly important if you are not planning to drive Model Y for several weeks. When plugged in, Model Y wakes up when needed to automatically maintain a
charge level that maximizes the lifetime of the battery."

Does this mean that it is sophisticated enough now to manage the battery without limiting charging to capacity?

The tweet from Elon about charging to 80-90% was in 2014; does anyone know if the new system has made it possible to charge to 100% without accelerating degradation greatly?
