IRS refused my tax credit

I just got a request from IRS for "valid sales contract and the manufacturer's certification" to support my credit. Has anyone had luck sending in the final delivery docs; ie, purchase agreement, delivery deceleration and a copy of title? Anyone successfully get the credit with the documents we actually have?

I finally got the IRS to accept my Form 8936 and the $7500 full credit. Except to a tiny lie the IRS told.

I sent them the Purchase agreement, Title and a copy of the Manufacturer Statement of Origin (aka Manufacturer Certificate of Origin). I got the copy of the MSO from a request from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. That should be enough. I happened to find a copy of a "dealer verification" of electric vehicle for the Texas rebate program and sent that in to.

"manufacturer's certification" is an incoherent error generated by the IRS Internal Revenue Manual that you should interpret to be the MSO or some kind of dealer verification.

I've basically given up not wanting to risk anymore money and a lengthy process to reopen a closed case over $1100. The IRS examiner Mr. Exel basically misrepresented that I would get the full refund when closing my case over the phone. DO NOT EVER CLOSE A CASE OVER THE PHONE! He said they had accepted my $7500 credit and they would recalculate my refund based on my "original" return. That was a lie. They only reverted back to my "corrected" return in which they miscalculated based on older Form 8834 rules. In a subsequent call with the IRS the representative also initially said they used my "original" return but then corrected herself when I inquired further. If it was anyone other than the IRS it would be fraud or at the very least negligence.

Huh? Has your tax return been held up for this or did you get your refund and now their asking for this as part of a line item audit???

I got my refund within a week of submitting my taxes.

My accountant screwed up the initial paperwork despite my instructions and only requested $2500 (did not believe $7500 was even possible). So this comes from an amended return. I'm sure that's why they are digging deeper.

In case this helps anyone in the future;
Called local tesla delivery specialist Friday afternoon and he emailed me everything they sent to DMV, including a copy of the manufacturer certificate of origin by this morning.

Nothing but great customer service, in my few interactions with Tesla.
