Most, if not all, US states classify a 3 wheel vehicle as a motorcycle, and require the driver to have a motorcycle license.
Tesla won't produce a vehicle that requires buyers to go out and get a motorcycle license.
I don't think that's really correct. While they may have definitions of motorcycles that would include 3-wheelers, in practice an enclosed 3-wheeler, with seats and a steering wheel that meets all Federal standards for cars would be allowed to be registered as a car.
