How to set cruise distance?

On my tutorial video it clearly shows a TACC distance to set but my screen does not have this option.

I believe you set it with the L/R buttons on the right scroll wheel.

The following distance is indicated as a simple number from 1 to 7. Seven being maximum spacing between yourself and the car in front of you.

Also, if your car does not have radar, then they have limited the settings to no less than 2, instead of 1.

Am I wrong in that thinking the number seems to approximate “car lengths” of following distance? The display seems to hint at that.

Personally, I find between 5 and 7 is comfortable on the highway. Anything less starts to feel like tailgating.

I wish it was specified in seconds following the car in front, then it would be independent of speed (unless that is really what 1 to 7 mean - if that is true, then give us the real number).

As for radar, that is no longer active on any Tesla that has it, as far as I know. Is that wrong?

Older cars still use radar.

The number is just a guide, the distance is speed dependent. But it is also elastic, meaning as you slow down or speed up due to traffic, your spacing compresses or extends a bit.
