Fairfax county tax assessment

Any model 3 owners living in Fairfax, Va?
I have s SR+ 2019 model that I bought in March 2019 right when the SR+ was released. And last year my tax assessment was based on the sales price.
This year my assessed value is $625 higher than last year!

Obviously I will appeal the assessment. I suspect they do not do a proper breakout between LR/SR/MR etc. I was just wondering others are seeing in terms of their assessed value, maybe even in other counties in Va.

And for the rest of you, you can just giggle at our poor sob's that decided to buy model 3s in VA. Who knew my car would appreciate instead of depreciate?!

My tax assessment in Charlotte NC was exactly $100 less than my brand new car value - which includes the 1200 shipping cost.
I appealed and they brought it down by 3K, obviously my car has lost more than 6% of the value in 1 year, heck tesla has reduced the price by more than that in that interval. smh.

The Seattle, WA area also has a similar tax for Sound Transit. The depreciation schedule is ridiculous!

In Falls Church, VA in 2019 when my SR was new it was assessed at $30,770 (so lower than the $35,000 purchase price). The tax ended up being $310. Still waiting for the 2020 assessment.

Fairfax gives you an assessment?!? In Loudoun county they just hold you upside down by your ankles until you're broke!

On a serious note... was last year Pro-rated because you didn't own the car the whole year?

Is that only for replacing fuel taxes? Because california there's also the "transportation improvement fee" which is anywhere from $25 - $175 depending on car value... In addition to the regular registration fees...

There's $150 for full electric vehicles, and a new $75 for full electric and hybrid vehicles. Total over $900 this year (less $102 for personalizations)!

Wow, what a tax. And this is the cost for which trim of the Model 3? If this was the Performance, maybe it might be a bit more reasonable...

Mine went up by $6000 compared to 2019 value. So everyone needs to visit the county building and fight.

Such a crock of *sugar*. I'd love to understand the logic behind taxing me for buying the car, and then taxing me again annually into perpetuity just for the pleasure of owning it. I can sort of see the logic for real estate, but a car has wheels.

I live in Fairfax county too and made the 'mistake' of buying an M3P last year. It was significantly cheaper last year because I bought it at the end of June, but you can imagine what my bill looks like this year
