That's odd? The article implies that the reason for the layoffs is production rate issues, as in they are building them too slowly (quality issues with suppliers and their own workers). Man, legacy auto seems to find so many different ways of screwing up. Maybe they were always like this and we never noticed before.

Two U.S. House of Representatives committees said Friday they are investigating Ford Motor Co's (F.N), opens new tab partnership with Chinese battery company CATL (300750.SZ), opens new tab.
Ford announced in February it is spending $3.5 billion to build a battery plant in Michigan using technology from CATL, the world's largest battery maker.
Jason Smith and Mike Gallagher, Republican chairs of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Select Committee on China, in a joint letter demanded Ford answer questions about the deal. They warned that if the company remains reliant on China for inputs to produce electric vehicle batteries,

"the company will be exposing itself and U.S. taxpayers to the whims of the Chinese Communist Party and its politics." ..........Ridiculous is not a strong enough word.

Has the GOP done anything positive in relation to Electric Vehicles...ever??

Let's not be foolish and blinded by partisan propaganda (from either side). EVs are not a Democrat-only thing. They benefit independent of political leaning, and other than fools who are swayed by oil interests into blind partisanship, are supported by liberals and conservatives (root: "CONSERVE").

Baby Bush (aka "dubya"), a stooge to the Republican party, actually signed the 1st EV tax deduction bill in 2008. Look it up.

Of course, some of us are concerned that this validated the FUD mantra that EVs only work because of subsidies.

Maybe be true about Bush in 2008, but Tramp continues to put anything to do with Charging or EV's down, as well as his cadre of Republican politicians..." Ev's bad, Oil driven vehicles good" Trump vows to end ‘madness’ of EV push
