I don't understand why he wouldn't pay a couple engineers to build one from scratch. He is Elon Musk, you'd think he'd have a line of nerdy volunteers ready to go on a project like this.
Maybe identifying the whole conversion necessary is part of the plan. He did say they'd be doing something cool for Roadster owners next year. I know people are probably hoping for a battery-upgrade-to-Model-S-cells and Supercharging, but I'm pretty sure making your car into a convertible submarine, or just a boat, would be considered pretty cool.

This was an extraordinary story on Elon, another one that gives a glimpse on his life and what he's been through to achieve his larger-than-life status. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait for a book about him, a biography or something. Does anyone now if such thing is in progress, or maybe planned?
