Ceramic coating has locked in light car wash scratches

Hi all, I washed my car last night before having ceramic coating applied.

Brought the car home today and noticed a tonne of light scratches mostly over the bonnet which have now been locked in by the ceramic coating today.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next? I don’t want to go back to the place that did it as it felt a bit like a back yard job arranged by my leasing company.

Can the coating be removed by some one else, buffed the paint and a new application, or does it not work that way ?

Cheers for any help

Before ceramic coating you need to have the paint ‘corrected’, which is a full decontamination and polish. It takes at least one day, longer if a dark colour. If you got a cheap price then this was not done. Microscratches make the car look dull, and a proper place will proudly show you under lights how scratch free their work is. You can get the coating buffed off, just take it to a decent detailer and they’ll start again

Thankyou.

My coating was set up as an add on thru my NL lease company - so im thinking they go with cheap and nasty and hike up the price.

That’ll teach me to trust that they know what they’re doing and are offering me the best.

It’s so disappointing to have a car only a week old with water stains and these light scratches preserved under this coating.

I’ll need to bite the bullet and pay more to have the old coating removed, paint fixed and coated again.

An expensive lesson

I’ve contacted a company that specialises in coatings and talk about how they take a full day to do the coating , not 2-3 hours like some other places, they sound much better and after emailing them they seem to understand and will call me tomorrow to discuss. Hope it can be fixed.

Thanks again for your information

In my experience…if the owner of the company isnt super pasionate about his/her work then go elsewhere, and if they wont tell you the name of the coating go elsewhere. Once you have the coating name ask on here or any other similar forum about experinces with that product.
If the owner is passionate about their work its unlikely to be anything but a premium product.
Once it is all done (it wont be cheap)be sure to ask the detailer the best way to wash the car as you can still scratch a ceramic coating.

Thankyou. The owner is the installer and the website does list the product he uses (the one I got done thru the NL arranged job has no mention of what they use)

This guy used this brand. Not sure of its reputation

I'm sure the leasing co gets kickbacks for referring that biz.
Always do your own research, and get a 2nd (or even 3rd) opinion/quote.

You ought surely to take this up with the leasing company and either get a refund so that you can arrange a proper job.

From experience, I would recommend Gtechniq products. However, as has been mentioned, professional preparation, as with many jobs, is essential for a successful result.

If not properly resolved, name and shame your lassoing ( leasing) cowboy outfit.
