Car and Driver-2015 Tesla Model S 70D is The car of the century

I'm willing to entertain the notion that they're really saying its car of the century thus far, but I have a hard time understanding how the 70D beat out the 85D.

I believe C & D has a price limitation. The 85D exceeds it and the 70D does not.

Only 177 lbs lighter than a Sig P85? Should be much less weight with less cells in the pack.

Less battery weight, but weight of second motor in the front, and some added content (autopilot hardware, parking sensors, electric folding mirrors etc) that the lower VIN cars don't ave.
