I had 2016 GTI autobahn with DSG, but I drove a beater 2007 Acura TSX for 1.5 years before jumping into a M3P this past March.
Even though the coolant level didn’t seem to be dropping, I would occasionally get a whiff of sweet coolant odor after parking since it was new. With the powertrain warranty over, common water pump failure issue, paying off the car note and peak supply chain shortages it was the perfect storm to unload my GTI to Carmax.
The GTI was the perfect balance of sportiness, utility and size for me. It didn’t hurt that the interior quality was poor man’s Audi quality either. I would love to jump into a Golf R when it goes electric, but realistically it would be more expensive than a M3P (after tax incentives) due to dealer markup in my area.
