another tax credit question... sorry guys/gals....

A related point........the 2014Q3 information suggests the tax credit will lapse sometime in 2016, before Model3 availability. [+/- 60k through 2014, 60k in 2015, and 50%+ growth in 2016.]. If this is relevant to you, order by early 2016.

Nope. That's worldwide production. The phaseout only starts once the manufacturer has sold 200k vehicles for use in the United States. Also when they reach that 200k you have 6 months before the credit starts to phase out and a year of the credit being around at 50% and 25%. The phase out is not going to sneak up on anyone.

Good grief, of course you're right, breser. Maybe someone can post actual numbers, but if 210k cumulative by YE 2016, maybe ~70% or ~150k is US sales? So, 2017 is the year the tax credit begins to taper off?

IRS publishes this document that is supposed to help you figure out where the credit stands with respect to phasing out but for some reason Tesla is missing on it. I'd guess that Tesla has requested that the IRS not publish their numbers.
