21 Plaid Retrofit matrix headlights & tilt screen help please!

Most of us paid a guy (there's a few out there) a few hundred bucks.

Word on the street is you can do it with toolbox now using the Service Shell, but I haven't personally tried yet. I am thinking of grabbing a subscription to play around with it

What firmware are you on? @honeyfist301 tried on his X, but it gave him an unauthorized error. I’m in 2024.3.10 now.

No, he was using the vehicle configuration menu I believe.

BTW, from the service site, tesla says you can use a diagnostic cable with part#: 1669075-00-A Tesla 2-1 harness kit or this one Ebay diag cable
anyone heard/seen this in action before?

Tools used is tesware and toolbox3. Even if you had access to the software, you’ll also need higher access to modify and test.

Those are only good for the Earlier Model S or X. They don't work on the 2021-2022 Refresh. The 2022+ refresh use the Ethernet port like the current
Model 3/Y.

My car was manufactured 3/24/22 and has the ethernet port. I want to add tilt screen. Is there a way to confirm what version control board I have now without tearing the console apart? (Maybe, I just need tilt motor kit and configuration change..)

Wouldn't that be the perfect scenario?

some shops can enter you vin and let you know what is the version number of your VCLeft controller

So the stuff they do isn’t really visible, but at least for now we’re able to make the changes through service shell.

I know you previously mentioned enabling "global" headlights is now available through the menu options but do you know how we could enable tilt in shell?
There is barely anything out there (that I've found) on manipulating toolbox.

Yeah, tilt can be done in shell. Config 132 -> 02.

Global headlamps theoretically could be done through either, but I’ve heard of at least one X owner who said the menu option didn’t work for the headlights (error at the end).

Nice!! Won't have to pay some guy $400 to do this then.

Also, I am about to pick up the tilt motors this week. Would you recommend to go ahead and install them prior to getting any access to re-programming?
I ask because I saw the manual states to resync and reload the software when swapping the module.

I don’t think there would be harm in doing the config change for the tilt screen prior. You’d probably have to redeploy the firmware after swapping the module.

For headlights changing the config usually makes the old ones stop working
