I was subsequently told the $250 was a mistake, that they should have said $500, but that they would honor $250. Either way I've asked them to remove the core charge from the repair quote. Posting this piece of information for future reference for others.

Posting over in this thread now, Tesla says the MCU needs to be replaced. Haven't quite owned the car four years but I've driven just over 53,000 so they are saying it is not covered under warranty. The car is not driveable.

The car is at the service center and they are waiting to hear back on cause/proposed solution from the engineering team in California.

This is what I do in my S. I parked in the garage and then ran 2 lines of duct tape along the outside of the wheels. Then when I back in I just center the lines on my display with the tape.

I passed bicyclists at two different times this morning and neither appeared on the AP screen.

And for the record I'm happy with the update to 8.0 :)

I just created a new TuneIn account because I saw I could log in on my S. It worked. New account on my phone, created favorites, then they appeared in my S when I logged in there.

I finally found it. You have to scroll the panel up, the login area is at the bottom of the music streaming panel.

My DirectDrive openers do NOT work out of the box with the HomeLink in my S. The frequency is off by 5 MHz but DirectDtive sells an adapter. My recommendation is to do a quick search of the boards after you have a short list of openers you are considering.

I'm waiting for the day when drive-by-wire eliminates the need to have a steering wheel. Boeing aircraft still use the yoke as input for flight controls but Airbus aircraft use what is essentially a side joystick. I don't see why you couldn't some day do the same in a Tesla.

First of all, congrats on the order! We just did a round trip from Philly to Orlando and didn't have any problems or range anxiety in our S60.

x2, I agree. Our 2015 Subaru Legacy has a great blind spot detection system I'd love to have in the S. I compensate by driving with the rear camera display at the top of my screen. It's an additional part of my scan before I initiate a lane change, both with and without autopilot.

I'm still debating the full switch to Tesla and this one incident has me thinking along these lines when before it was not even a factor. The longer this lasts without Tesla communication will only cement the thought.
