Not sure...that’s my point I think something got jacked up during the install. I submitted a repair request into Tesla. I suspect they will probably have to re-push and reinstall the update. I will update the post as I learn more.

You are exactly right. Which is why I wonder if the frunk button is the only mechanism to open the frunk. If so, then if battery died the vehicle may be out of compliance, if of course, trunk laws apply to frunks. Unfortunately not as easy as “get in and test”, as you would first have to drain...

Ok, maybe said differently, if the 12v battery dies and you were stuck in the frunk, how would you open it? The button doesn’t appear to be electric, but I could be mistaken. If it is electric, where/what is the manual override?

I can further confirm that a reboot of iPhone 7 running ios 10.01 and iphone 7 plus running ios10.1 (beta), allows the app to connect to the Bluetooth controller and function as designed. This definitely implies an issue with the os or more than likely the os/hardware combination with Apple.
