London company to fix window scratches?

My daughter's car has picked up some scratches from the wipers. I was going to use Carpro Ceriglass and a DA polisher but I was concerned this may leave some micro scratches from the Cerium Oxide. I then saw two national companies which offer glass polishing (www.superglassuk.com and Home |...

    [UK] 2024.8.x

I was thinking the same earlier this week. Tesla actually provide instructions how to correctly align the Model Y headlights against a wall including the measurements. When I can find a flat car park and wall (probably a multi-storey will be best), I will give it a try: Model Y Service Manual |...

    MY23 Induction Touch Up Paint

Managed 18 months before I curbed it. Like you, I will in due course get the rim professionally refurbished once it has more damage! In the interim, I ordered this touch up paint from eBay. The amount supplied is very small and the colour match is not perfect, but it has done the job in the...

    Matrix headlights - finally???

Agreed. That could well be the case and even if the hardware is present, Tesla may not see the financial benefit in devoting the time and resources to virtually retrofitting legacy vehicles.

    Matrix headlights - finally???

Report by Drive Tesla that Matrix headlights are finally on their way, but sadly only for Highland cars at this stage. We can only hope that this is extended in due course to all cars equipped with matrix capable hardware.

    2023 Holiday Update

I was tempted. I've used their other Carplay dongles which have worked well. You can get this Tesla unit much cheaper direct from Carlinkit for US$55 using the code Save30. I've ordered previously them direct a couple times and delivery has been relatively quick. Carlinkit: CarlinKit Wireless...

    2023 Holiday Update

Assuming that Tesla developed HFPA for non-USS cars, they are probably not prepared to incur the cost of developing the system for older USS equipped vehicles. The logical solution therefore would be to give drivers the choice by adding a switch to allow drivers to select either USS without HFPA...

    Octopus Go/Go Faster/Flux/Agile/IO ??

The initial connection with my Home Mini was a nightmare. However, if you persist with Octopus support, you will get the issue escalated and resolved eventually. In my case, the LED would continue to flash blue even after completing the set-up process with the Mini sitting in front of the meter...

    Model 3 aluminium plates

I was fortunate that my car was supplied by Tesla with the metal backed plates. The bending process was not scientific - I used my leg, gently bending the plate in stages to avoid cracking the (plastic?) front face.
  12. Andy718

    Model 3 aluminium plates

I've mounted the plates directly onto my model Y and it has worked well. IMO, the car looks much better without the plastic frames. The plates were aluminium which enabled me to bend the front plate gently to match the curve in the front mounting plate. Having cleaned all surfaces with...

Is the Model Y LR fitted with Matrix Headlights?

I used to own a BMW M340i with the full adaptive lighting package. It was excellent, especially at drawing “boxes” around vehicles and not dazzling oncoming traffic. Whilst I miss those features, I wouldn’t say the light coverage is worse as the Tesla LEDs have good range, it’s just that you...

    New delivery MY differences

Your upper arm looks the same as mine. So, it's just the coil spring part number which differs from the parts diagram kindly posted by @Durzel .

    New delivery MY differences

The plot thickens! There is a post on Facebook stating that the upper arm is different on the latest cars and that the coil spring has a different part number. This is a photo showing my OSF spring and the part number 1188064 is different compared to the parts diagram above. My upper arm is...

    New delivery MY differences

Thanks George. I can't make out the part number in the photo but working on the basis it is the same as you mention, then that answers the question in my mind that the suspension is unchanged as Tesla would have needed to change the part number.

    New delivery MY differences

I agree to a point although in theory, a Performance should be more firm than a LR. However, some people are saying that the MYLR's delivered last month have softer suspension that the LR model they took for a test drive. Personally, I'm not noticing much difference and I prefer a firm set-up.
  18. Andy718

    New delivery MY differences

Although I have seen several posts both here and on Facebook about the suspension being softened, I've yet to see this confirmed. My Model Y LR was collected 30/6, so is one of the latest batch just having arrived on these shores. I've therefore taken a photo of the front and rear dampers -...

UK 2022 Orders to Delivery inc the shipping thread for posts with no shipping news

I took a 4 year policy at £352 (after the 25% discount). I consider good value after they paid out around £10K for my 3 series GAP claim!

UK 2022 Orders to Delivery inc the shipping thread for posts with no shipping news

That's fine if you want to claim on your insurance. If a third party hits you and writes off the car, then I guess that new for old doesn't work unless you claim on your policy instead of the insurance of the person that hit you. In my case, my car was hit from behind whilst stationary and...

UK 2022 Orders to Delivery inc the shipping thread for posts with no shipping news

Just taken out another GAP policy with ALA. Use the code MSE25 for a 25% discount (worked a few days ago). Excellent experience a few years ago with my ALA GAP policy when my 3 series was written off.

    Model Y UK Delivery

I have a feeling it will be chaotic on the 30th at Southampton. So many people I've seen of Facebook and this forum appear to have collections around 2 - 3pm and we must only be a small proportion of the overall orders!

    Model Y UK Delivery

What worries me is the production ramp. As the owner of a Dec 20 car, I speak from experience when I say that I have no wish to buy another car manufactured during a phase when the factory is ramping up production. My Model Y order has now been pushed back to July so I have lost the guaranteed...

Is the Model Y LR fitted with Matrix Headlights?

My EDD is also most identical 5 - 30 June. I took the decision to change from my M3LR as I wanted the benefit of the hatchback and higher driving position. There is always a reason to wait especially given the 4680 batteries and possible Berlin production, but I decided to proceed with the...

Is the Model Y LR fitted with Matrix Headlights?

Appreciated. You're right about BMW! I loved my 440i GC but their tech was also a bit flaky as well as their configurator. Fingers crossed that Elon hasn't decided to change the headlight spec for European cars!
  27. Andy718

Is the Model Y LR fitted with Matrix Headlights?

Thanks Teaston. Hoping that is the case. It was just the way the lights change in the configurator that made me query.
  28. Andy718

Is the Model Y LR fitted with Matrix Headlights?

Having ordered a MYLR as a replacement for my Dec 20 M3 LR, I thought it would be fitted with matrix headlights. However, the following article from Canada states that the MY LR does not have them fitted: Tesla appears to have reverted to using non-matrix LED headlights in latest Model 3 builds...

    Boot strut recall

To add to the confusion, my car was booked for a ranger visit in a couple of weeks time. Today, Tesla called to say it is a known issue and a bulletin has been issued to service centres advising the issue will be fixed within the next 2 - 3 updates (he could not be more specific). My ranger...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Thanks for your advice Avendit. Having found an installer I am happy with, I guess that is probably worth more than trying to push for an extra 2-2.5kwh per day. Apparently, the JA Solar panels are his default choice, so I will trust in his advice. I did consider waiting but like all things in...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

We are looking at having 5.92kWh system installed which will use 16 x JA Solar Mono 370W panels, 5.0 KW Hybrid Inverter and a 9.5 Givenergy battery. I've settled on the battery and inverter but was interested in your thoughts on the panels which have a 19.8% efficiency - a little lower than the...

    Boot strut recall

Guessing yours was a December 20 car like mine. I've suffered similar issues - all sorted, but annoying. The moral of the story is not to buy when Tesla ramp production as stated by Elon.

Trade in values seem high again ?

Update - following a phone call this morning with Tesla, the gentleman referred to the trade ins team and a revised offer has been made of £47,236 which I will accept.
  35. Andy718

Trade in values seem high again ?

I agree to a point, but if a company offers a trade in figure (albeit an estimate) provided you respond within 7 days, then is it unreasonable to expect that company to honour that pricing, given that it is factored into the overall transaction? A reduction was expected for the alloy wheel...

Trade in values seem high again ?

It is difficult to follow Tesla's logic. I had a a trade in estimate of £47,600 for my Dec 2020 M3LR on 5K miles. That seemed low compared to the offers received by others with earlier cars &/or higher mileages. The car is as new or indeed better than new and has full front end PPF. The only...

Insurance for Model 3 with PPF and Acceleration Boost

That must have changed then as I contacted DL in Mar 21 to notify them that I had added PPF to my car and there was no charge. I did check with DL prior to fitting and they advised that PPF is fine (but not wraps). Now insured with Churchill with PPF declared.

Trade in values seem high again ?

LOL! Thanks for the info. I'm also at risk of being overruled. Both my wife and daughter don't like the white. However, I think it looks really good - this was the car I drove yesterday. I've been told that it will be my car, so choose whatever colour I want. However, the underlying message...

Trade in values seem high again ?

Interesting. When did you request the trade in? I'm wondering if its worth visiting a showroom to obtain an updated trade in figure. What colour are you going to order for your model Y and would you consider another MSM? I'm probably going for the white as the 20" wheel contrast well.
  44. Andy718

Trade in values seem high again ?

That sounds a very strong offer. I received an offer of £47,600 on my M3LR blue/black 19" on 4900 miles just 2 days ago. What options are fitted to your car - FSD? Just about to push the button on a Model Y LR.

    Seat pre-warming broken?

I booked my car into the SC today for the same problem. Pre-conditioning the car with both front seats set at 2 lines resulted in a warm passenger seat but cold drivers seat. The drivers seat only started to warm up on setting 3. The SC phoned to say they have reported the issue with my car to...

Pod Point Solo charging cable plug getting stuck in M3 socket

One wonders whether it is the Podpoint connector or an issue with the car. I've had no problems with my Jan 21 Tetherered Podpoint. The only thing I do occasionally is "polish" the outside of the connector with silicon grease to prevent the connector getting jammed in the wall holster (it is a...

Wiki [UK] 2021 - The Holiday Release - 'holiday fun' not V11 UI changes and features

I had the same issue when my phone was connected via the wifi. I am able to access the cameras by switching to 4G, so I'm guessing my router or ISP might be blocking a port.

    Boot strut recall

My car had the recall implemented in November when it went to the SC for other work. It was explained to me that an O Ring was installed at the top of the Trunk Power Strut to prevent water intrusion.
