MASTER THREAD: 2019.40.50.x - Driving Visualization improvements, new voice commands, Camping Mode

Thanks for the info; It IS already in openstreetmaps, and already tagged (correctly-- in the correct direction) as "one way". And yes, my Tesla still tries to go the wrong way more often than not. Sorry I sound like a curmudgeon, but that's probably because I am. Odd that it never did that...

MASTER THREAD: 2019.40.50.x - Driving Visualization improvements, new voice commands, Camping Mode

Master threads suck. Sorry, don't want to read 66 pages to see if anyone else has had this problem, but this update broke my Tesla. I almost always (except when it refuses to work) use smart summon when I leave work, as I am always one of the last cars in the lot. Since the last update (I've got...

Where are they going to build the truck?

Why not GF #2? Might help boost acceptance in the heartland.

    [Poll]- Is Cybertruck beautiful?

Yeah, it's kinda ugly, though I suspect it will grow on me. Honestly, though, IDGAF what it looks like if it does all the things I want it to -- and if Elon tells true, then it will. I am excited not only for the on-board 110/220 + air compressor, but now also for the optional solar roof and...

MASTER THREAD: all Smart Summon-related posts go here

A bug, or a feature? When I use Smart Summon, I notice that the Sentry Mode report of close encounters has been cleared from the screen before I am able to see it. Does anyone know if Tesla has any plans to address this? Like, maybe the notification could remain up until the car is put in gear...

Would You Buy a Model 3 Again Today?

Absolutely! I'd get a second one, but I think I want to wait for the truck...

Vendor Questions people stop and ask about my TESLA (or, why charging takes zero time)

I HATE pumping gas with a red-hot passion. In my previous vehicles, I would drive until I was on fumes to use every drop of gas I could, and therefore pump as much as possible, thus minimizing the number of trips to the gas station. Now that I can plug in at home, I rarely get below 100 miles...

    Smart Summon

Yeah, Elon said it "almost" didn't suck. The devil is in the "almost". The couple of times I have used it, it has moved in ways that does not coexist well with any other traffic. I used it in a relatively low-traffic parking situation, (one other car moving) and instead of parking parallel to...

Yep! Waiting for the truck for my next "scam"...

110 Charging stuck on white T

We had that problem the first time a Tesla came to visit (before we had ours). It turned out that the outlet we were plugging into was improperly grounded. Fixed the outlet, and, Voila! Have you tried charging from a different outlet?

    Anyone Buy a Used M3?

I bought my M3 used, but, in the interest of full disclosure I should note that I bought from a family member. My model 3, "Woden", has been absolutely incredible so far (I bought him at the end of 2018; he was first registered in Aug 2017). When I bought him, he had 17,000+ miles on him, and...

FSD and still haven’t received update, normal?

I am also in the San Diego area, and got mine last night. I think the download was waiting for a while. I had to move my car clsoer to the house to have a strong enough wifi signal. It was a looong download, too!

Scheduled charging at home - charging any time when not at home

When you set the start time for charging, it is associated with that particular geolocation, so for each charger you use regularly, you can set a separate start time. If no start time is set for a particular location, the car will start charging immediately.

How Advertising can help? BMW example

Average amount spent on advertising (by other-than-Tesla) is $1000/car. Waste of money to support the entirely parasitic ad industry. We'd all be better off if fewer companies advertised, not more. Then people might base decisions on more facts > propaganda.

Concerns about installing a bike rack on a Model 3

I've used it oh, half a dozen times? For trips of about 30 minutes at a time, mixed freeway and surface streets. I have not seen the reports of glass cracks from the Sea Sucker, but I would expect that could happen, especially if one were cornering aggressively. I do tend to drive a bit more...

Concerns about installing a bike rack on a Model 3

I've been using a Sea Sucker (which I learned about on these forums -- apparently it is the rack of choice for many Tesla owners). I still feel a little weird about trusting it, but i've used it several times and for the admittedly short distances I have driven it's been bulletproof -- no...

Dilema: how do I get the rest of my foursome to chip in when I drive?

Honestly, sounds like time for a new foursome! Maybe give them a "gentle" hint by stopping at a supercharger on the way to or from one day. If they don't get the hint, then they're being deliberately obtuse.

The downside to silence--we need another horn

While I'm not a big fan of *requiring* EVs to make "fake vehicle noises" for pedestrian safety, having the ability to turn on some sort of exterior sound in situations like this would be nice (so long as we could turn it right back off again when no peds were present). While rolling down your...

Has this major navigation issue happened to you?

I have found the nav to be pretty unreliable at choosing routes. I't like to use NAO on my way to work, but the only route the nav wants to give me is 7.9 miles as opposed to the 6.1 mile route I drive on my own. If there's a way to change it, I can't figure it out. I'd like to be able to save...

cars.com American Made Index -- Where is Tesla?

Some of the seven named criteria are not favorable to Tesla; profit margin (which has been up and down of late) and number of US employees -- even a sh***y gigantic car company will have more employees than a practically-perfect-in-every-way smaller car company. Perhaps it should be *percent* of...

    Frunk / Trunk Mat Suggestions

I got the all-weather for the trunk, and as long as there's not a bunch of stuff on top of where the hatch to the under-trunk is, then it lifts pretty easily. I keep my "trunk" empty as a rule, and keep a bunch of things (mini compressor, charging equipment, reusable bags, spare jacket, etc) in...

    2019.20.1 - California Only

I was worried about the multiple-lane-splitting offramps when I read about the problems others were having, but since i'ave received the update I haven't had any issues with them. I realized that is probably because I am one of those nutjobs who signals which direction I'm going on the...

    2019.20.? pushed out?

Disappointed that it didn't include ES, but the change they made to dog mode does make sense. I honestly wondered when DM was released why it wasn't designed to be the way it is now. I know if it was my animal, I would rather run the risk of dealing with a dead battery than a dead pet. But...

    Frunk opening on its own

The first time it happened it was empty. Now I have my SeaSucker in there (about 4" high), but I think It'd take a magnitude 7+ earthquake to get that to fly up far enough (while at rest in a parking lot) to hit the release.

    Frunk opening on its own

No, not modded. Just a standard frunk.

    Frunk opening on its own

Nope, haven't used that. Maybe a reboot is in order anyhow. Can't hurt, I suppose. Thanks for the suggestion; I need to make a point of rebooting more often.

Discussion: Floor Mats in Model 3

We have a gravel driveway, and little bits of gravel are often tracked into our cars. I bought the all-weather mats (from Tesla - I'm not familiar with MAXpider) and they have been a perfect solution. As a previous poster mentioned, they fit perfectly. They have a small rim around them, so...

    Frunk opening on its own

Today I returned to my car to find the frunk open, though I had not opened it. It is the second time this has occured (this time, I was leaving work, the first time, I was going to work in the morning). The phone app wasn't even open, so I'm pretty certain I didn't hit the button by mistake. I...

    Hideaway Front License Plate (Motorized)

Uhhh... the shop that produced the video installs them in LA; is there a reason you don't want to use them? I can't, since I'm in San Diego, but I might have to schedule a road trip, 'cuz that's pretty amazing.

    Model 3 stinks ....

Yeah, it took me about 2 days to realize that there was no going back; my model 3 is better in almost EVERY way to the Prius it replaced (the only thing I miss just a little is that my Prius' solar roof did a much better job of keeping the interior of the car cool than the "no AC version of...

Emergency Lane Departure - False Positives

In California, road markings like this are ALL over the place! Since Tesla does plenty of testing in CA, I'm surprised that this wasn't fixed pre-release (shouldn't even be a beta issue -- this nonsense should be handled in alpha!). I scrolled back up to examine the picture after reading the...

Hard drives for cam and sentry

I am using a thumb drive; don't recall the capacity, but 64gb sounds about right. You need to create one folder on the drive at the root level (name it TeslaCam), and then the car will take care of sub-folders for the "dashcam" feature and Sentry mode saves (at least mine did). Don't sweat it...

Navigate On Autopilot: automatic lane change results

One maneuver I noticed that this method doesn't capture the "on-ramp" half of "on-ramp to off-ramp" functionality. After engaging NOA on a freeway on-ramp, when it "merges" onto the main highway, sometimes it merges nicely, and sometimes it just kind of fumbles itself into the first lane. It...

Would you own a Tesla without the tech?

It sort of depends what you mean by "tech". I love a lot of what my Tesla does (that my prius didn't) -- backup camera that's actually USEFUL, a nav system I can operate without pulling over, five, FIVE seat heaters, the ability to pre-heat or cool my car before I get into it, Sentry mode and...
