I have seen 5KW for stormwatch and for VPP event days.

That's what I'm seeing too - I did a bit of grid charging after a few days of clouds/rain to get my reserve up, max grid pull was to get 1.6kw inbound to PW, dropping to 0 when the sun peeked out and panels produced enough to cover house + at least 1.6kw to PW.

I doubt I could fit 30KW / 40 panels on my roof!

In CA/PG&E land, PG&E won't let you over-provision (ie, they reject the proposal if you're significantly over) your solar. I woulda gone for 50% larger if I could - 1 PW, 4kW panels - overproducing probably 10% which will vanish once it gets hotter & we run AC more in the summer. I didn't have...

No. Maybe a click, no arcing! Hopefully you heard something related to the outage from the grid. You can test on your own by throwing the service main cutoff - that's pretty much the same as an outage. You should hear a click (maybe) but not much else.

I'm in a 50 block, on the coast. We've lost power a few times. I have a powerwall, don't regret it at all (mostly 100% self powered 9 months out of the year, never use peak power from grid thanks to PW)

Thankfully I only pulled a tiny bit, PW was already nearly full. Only a few pennies of NBCs today. Event is only an hour, should be over before sunset so maybe I'll even have some battery left this time.

Looks like another flex alert is on for today. No VPP notice yet in the app. Maybe they're waiting until later in the day to give the grid a break & let us charge up with solar :D

I was tapped out about 20 min before the end of the event (20% reserve, dumped 80% of 1 PW2 + a trickle of solar during the event) - charging up nicely this morning - no fog today!
