2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

I absolutely think the North American car will be way better with an optimized battery. However, I am not so sure about the MIC car now. I still predict that the North American car will run 2.95 seconds for a true 0-60 mph without subtracting rollout and this 0-40 mph time backs that up...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Yes, definitely we should take that run for what it is. However, I also want to stress that the 0-40 mph was fantastic for that run. That is a noticeable difference in acceleration under 40 mph. What this shows is that we really need to preheat the battery still. That should be the first thing...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

0-40 mph is way better than the old car by a lot. You have to remove over 200 lbs from the old car to match that time. 40-60 mph with this cold battery in the new LG car is way worse than the old US Panasonic cars with similar weight wheels.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Yes, you did the best you could with what you had and we all appreciate it. A cold battery will affect this new car tremendously. I checked for the absolute slowest run I have ever had and the 50-60 mph time you had exactly matched my 50-60 mph from that slow run. I had intentionally chilled...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

I have the exact same time frame as you and my order number is very close to yours. We just have to be patient.

Thank you so much for this version. This tells us so much. Look at that 0-10 mph launch. .39 exactly matches my absolute best time with a fully preconditioned and gutted car. The test you did matches my best lightweight run all the way to 40 mph where the new car absolutely collapsed. It is...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Honestly, I really think the data you provided is highlighting the fact that the Panasonic car really is going to be significantly quicker especially with that new rear motor. The LG battery does appear to be a significant handicap.

Thank you. That is an excellent and well written review.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

I agree that it was not necessarily a direct comparison. However, I am 200+ lbs and the part I am comparing is from 40 mph to 60+ mph. Traction is irrelevant then because torque is falling off by that point. The whole point of the new rear motor is that it allows you to hold max power much...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Thank you for all of this great data. We really appreciate you testing it. However, this really doesn’t look good at all. I put a Dragy result below from a car with just 18” wheels and no other weight reductions. Just look at the acceleration line for both cars. The new MIC car is falling off...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

It is important to understand that Tesla claims 16% more max rear torque. That defines 0-40 mph and will be slightly quicker. Then they say 32% more max rear HP but this is at a vastly different speed. The old car hit max HP for a brief second at 55 mph. The new car hits it at 68 mph for the...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Max battery power of the current car is 436 KW(585 HP). 90% of 436 is 392.4 KW(526 HP). Those numbers all line up with expectations. There is a possibility that US based cars will hit 461 KW at the battery instead of the 436 KW of the old cars. Not sure if that is possible or not though.

Congrats! Did you switch from a RWD/LR to the Performance model?

This is how important the 60 foot time is for the 1/4 mile

My prediction is that the new car’s 1/4 mile times will look very similar to this.

This is how important the 60 foot time is for the 1/4 mile

Here are two Dragy screenshots showing the fastest and slowest you could go and run 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds with rollout subtracted. The 100% stock Model 3 Performance did 0-60 mph in 3.23 seconds without subtracting rollout. There is no way the new car is only going to be .1 seconds quicker...
