Powered boot strut failed

This morning, my boot failed to open. I found the powered strut was disconnected at the top end and on closer examination, the part of the strut that fits over the knuckle-ball on the boot lid is cracked and splayed out.

I've booked mobile service (A Wonderful scheme!) for next week so we'll see how things go.

Less than 3yrs old and the boot gets opened 3-4 times per week on average.

Haven't seen many or any other reports of this sort of failure so perhaps this is a rare one off?

Luke of mobile service came punctually today and changed out the broken strut/motor. In four years he's only had one other, which also cracked the roof when it went, so I'm glad I didn't experience that.

He's now servicing the Newcastle area which is good for folks up there and other places North of Sydney.

Another "thumbs up" for Tesla Mobile Service.
