Miley Cyrus? Seriously? She's trash. I hope the winner is not chosen based on the results of that poll...she should win the most "I hope my kids don't grow up to be like her" of the year award.
This post left me concerned. Labeling a 21-year-young woman that has done what exactly (?) as “trash” (!)

So here are some – maybe two – cents:

To me it seems many children tend to be influenced by the world around them growing up. A young Miley Cyrus – growing up and taking in the world around her – would be no exception.

When I look at the world that surrounded her I see a restaurant chain called Hooters. I see how many “strip bars”[SUP]1[/SUP]? I see legalized prostitution masquerading as “free speech” – all that is needed is a camera and voilà – let the incorporated procuring of the pornography begin[SUP]2[/SUP]. And the resulting ‘market’ has what – industrial proportions? And on top of that, there’s a black 'market' for prostitution à la Elliot Spitzer of what – equally industrial proportions?

Human 'sexual relations' as a commodity is all around children growing up today[SUP]3[/SUP].

And therefore, to me, it seems only logical that one young ‘pop star’ – trying to establish herself in a tradition of artists who constantly have been trying to ‘push the envelope’ – was bound to take it one, or a couple of steps too far…

Sure, Miley Cyrus has obviously made some individual choices. And some of them I don’t understand either, but when I take everything above into consideration, to me, there’s something bigger behind the 'scene' here. And Miley Cyrus seems to be a very logical result of the world that surrounded her while she was growing up. So how about this: She’s a canary. Not in the coalmine – but on the stage… (Sorry, I just couldn’t leave out that last one… )

I do believe Miley Cyrus has contributed to world sustainability through her conservation of clothing, etiquette, and judgement. /...

Yeah but when you find a video of your daughter twerking on YouTube you'll probably rethink that statement.
Depending on how old that daughter is, there may be more factors ‘at play’ here than Miley Cyrus…

[SUP]1[/SUP]There unfortunately exist some of these in Sweden also, but off the top of my head I don’t think they’re nearly as common.
[SUP]2[/SUP]Yes. We have the same problem in Sweden.
[SUP]3[/SUP]And IMO the wrongs doesn’t stop here. But if I continued, then this would be guaranteed to end up in the political quarantine thread. So here is where I’ll have to leave it…

I don't think Time's "Person of the Year" necessarily has to be someone positive or negative... just who is the biggest newsmaker of the year. At least that's how it has always seemed to me.
That tends to put people like terrorists on the cover. It's often easier to have a significant negative impact than a significant positive one.
