Or it’s simply a new year and they try and swap every order to inventory to get rid of stuff built in 2017 forcing a turn over of stock. Inventory falls as they dont release 2018 inventory, when the numbers are low enough we get an explosion of inventory appear as they put the 2018 inventory up.

Just a thought. If there's no significant change to the car & model year. I wonder if Tesla just updates all the VINs in new inventory so they show as 2018 models instead of 2017 leftover models which may seem like they take on more depreciation. I could see the process and paperwork involved to be time consuming which explains why the inventory in unavailable for two or so months.

And it isn't 0, it is unavailable. For several years now I have seen multiple cars in the inventory - go to 0. Then later on the same cars re-appears.

It's not even usually unavailable (although that happens when a car is reserved), more often than not it's just not shown on the Tesla listing of inventory but is there all along if you know how to find it

In yesterday's quarterly call wasn't there a comment that inventory cars would no longer be an issue?
Shortly after that is when I think Elon said all sales and marketing would report directly to him.
Can anyone confirm and/or interpret?

That’s a lot of kWh for a mere 300 mile range.

And no thanks, I wil use my brain for more productive things like gazing outside lazily and reach my destination more relaxed.

Different strokes for different people.

Clearly you want to make this a pissing contest. Freeway range is more like 544 miles @ 17mpg miles, but that's because I got the short final drive for towing, acceleration, and the fact that most of my driving is under 60mph.

My complaint, and the complaint of this entire threat, is about how Tesla has an f-ed up inventory management system that, among other things, turned me away from buying their vehicles. I don't know what game they're playing, but they're clearly playing one, and I don't want to deal with it. At least Solar City isn't full of this crap. They kept delaying my Power Wall order, but at least that was with good reason, in Australia and Puerto Rico.

Visited a Tesla gallery in the mall yesterday and was told by a Product Specialist that there are lots of new inventory cars that have not been released for sale. They expect a large number of cars to be released “in the next few weeks”.

I’m not always sure these Tesla folks know much more than we do. But that’s a FWIW observation.

New inventory is often available but not visible on the top level web site. I've only just started looking at the US market but in the UK which I've been doing for nearly a year Tesla only say that about 2x 2018 cars are available, yet I've found and list over 40. If that applied in the US then I imagine there could be 100+ that are sitting there waiting to be found. I've found a few already that aren't listed anywhere else without trying too hard.

Tesla staff will be able to see these cars, they have unlimited access.

Just to clarify since there's a lot of posts about display. There's secondary sites that show non-displayed inventory. But in addition to not being displayed, they go through periods of hold. Literally not allowed to sell an inventory car and they will be pulled out of circulation. You can go to your OA and say - hey I saw this yesterday; take my money. They won't be able to sell it to you until the inventory gets released again. vs a not displayed car, they can still sell you. Sometimes it will be because someone else put a deposit on it, but this is ALL of the existing inventory.

So far for X's - this is the 2nd year in a row that the inventory has been placed on hold in Q4 and released the 1st week of Feb.

I tweeted Elon this morning that maybe Tesla should consider offering a Ludicrous Upgrade for an additional $5,000 again on all the 31 CPO P85D's to get them moved.

Definitely would make them more attractive IMHO.

If you agree Tweet / email him with this recommendation too.

They can barely recondition their CPOs and get them to customers in a reasonable time. What makes you think they have the resources and the ability to add a Ludicrous update on top of that? :p Plus, it seems like they are not even selling this option so it must be not worth their effort...

I posted this on the other thread where you posted, but the only thing I see that will move the P85Ds is a price adjustment and that's likely what will happen.

You may be correct. Time will tell.

In the meantime my $5,000 Ludicrous Upgrade suggestion was just a potential way for Tesla to move all the CPO P85D's Tesla had in inventory. However from a selfish standpoint as a P85DL owner, the fewer number of Ludicrous P85DL's that exist, the better. :D

If a used car has not sold in a month or two, it is priced too high. I don't think any sweeteners change that basic fact.

Congrats on your Ludicrous P85D! Wish ours had that but for city driving Insane is quite sufficient.

Wish they would hurry up with the interior update so we could move up to a P100D :D
