My CPO Buying and Delivery Experience

What are you guys paying for a CPO delivery? I've been looking at CPOs for about 5 months and they fees have always been $1k. Now, on the Tesla webpage they are all $2k. What gives?
I can tell you this, if my cpo delivery time is over 4 weeks I won't be paying a dime for delivery. I know that shipping rates are near 700 for open maybe 1100 for closed. This is a markup item for tesla I'm not sure many buyers are pleased with.

I picked up my car today and it went very smoothly. They sent an Uber to get me, a few issues:

1) My taillight had a scuff and scratch mark. My DS reluctantly added it to the bill of sale to be checked out by the Service Center
2) Plastic housing under driver's side was not snapping in properly in back, needs to be fixed
3) They also didn't have the leather pouch that holds the key. I just orded some silocone holders on Amazon for now whoch will work for my wife and I. (Amazon.com: Topfit Silicone Car Keychain for the Tesla Model S (Black Pink 2 of Set): Automotive)
4) The sill kick door plates had some scratches on them but they refused to get these replaced saying it's normal. I didn't want to put up a fuss with those since they tend to take a lot of abuse anyway.

So I'm irritated with the process of buying a cpo now. I should have known where there is smoke there is fire. I echo the sentiments of others here in saying why have a car listed if it's not ready for sale? Tesla must work on their commutation period. It's not acceptable to leave a customer in the dark about their purchase. New or not, who cares? If they are dedicated to brand loyalty this is something that isn't acceptable. For the record Tesla hasn't reached out to me at all about the cpo purchase. It's been over 9 days. They have the car on my tesla with no status updates. I just think it would be a lot more professional if they kept you in the loop since you are buying a really expensive used car.

Waiting is the hardest part. It feels like it will never come. Keep in mind I got a call 10 days after car#1 and 7 days after car#2 saying they were in accidents (they were both service loaners not yet out of service). Car #3 took about 4 weeks for me, as it was shipped from California to the Midwest. So it was 8/10/16 when I placed the deposit down on car#1, and 10/25/16 by the time I picked up car#3. As agonizing and maddening this process is, it is sooo worth the wait. It is really hard in this current world of instant gratification. But good things do come to people who wait...

Update on my end:
  • 12/15/2016 - Put down deposit on CPO (85D) sight unseen (it's located in NYC and I'm in Seattle).
  • 12/16/2016 - Congrats email from my CPO advisor.
  • 1/4/2016 - I email to inquire on the status. No new info.
  • 1/7/2017 - I email to ask if it's possible to get pics of the car. No response.
  • 1/13/2017 - I text my salesperson to ask for an update and responds saying that the car has arrived in Fremont from NJ and will be on its way soon to Seattle for recconditioning.
  • 2/1 - I email my salesperson and DS for an update. SP responds and says the car is ready and just needs to be detailed. I could pick up on Friday (2/3).
A couple things. 1) I've never once gotten a response from the DS. 2) I'm not ready for pickup because I was waiting on an update from them before securing financing and insurance.

I imagine I'll schedule an appointment to see the car sometime next week. I'm fighting hard against the impulse to just go pick it up and leave. I want to be thorough in evaluating/inspecting the car before I buy it.

I ordered CPO P85 12/31.
Car was in San Diego and was delivered to Kansas City.
I took delivery today 2/3.

Similar to you, communication from my DS was virtually nonexistent. Yesterday I got a call from another DS letting me know my original DS was no longer employed by Tesla and that my car was ready for delivery.

The actual delivery today was great. All the orientation was done inside with my car. The specialist was super knowledgeable and walked my wife and i through all operations of the car.

The wait was worth it. Driving this thing is amazing!! You will love it!!

Time for an update. I was never told who my delivery specialist was. I called my local store and just got updates from a delivery specialist. Last week at the two week mark from order date I was told my car was ready to ship. Apparently it sat for a week while they were waiting for the perfect truck route. At the 3 week mark I was given an update that the car should be shipped in the next day or two. My target delivery date is this coming Thursday making it 28 days. Let's see what happens!

Update- my car is ready for pickup tomorrow! YES! 27 day wait but hey I can't wait to drive it home. Once I figured out who my delivery specialist was he was extremely professional. I look forward to sharing photos of the car.

Took delivery last night 2/8! I was absolutely thrilled with the condition of the car. The paint was one of the best my advisor had seen. There was one chip on the paint but I didn't complain. They said they will replace the b pillar of drivers side entrance. It had excessive wear. The car was like new for a car w 13900 miles on it. Very pleased with the delivery experience. The interior of my p85 is in impeccable condition. New floor mats and freshly detailed. Overall 9.5 out of 10 stars. Thanks Elon and the rest of the Tesla team!
