Because looking into a black abyss at night is not ideal. I recently had warranty work on my car which involved removing the glove box so I wanted to verify if it should have a light or not. In contrast to your comment, I’ve never owned a vehicle without a glove box light dating back to my first car, a 1986 Monte Carlo.
Also, there is a what looks to be a light but as we know, manufacturers share parts across vehicles so I didn’t want to assume it should be working.
My 2021 MYP has a glove box light. It would be ludicrous if they removed it in later model years to save cost. Perhaps the LED in your glovebox is dead and needs to be replaced?
