Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Because if they produce the 3 and Y at the maximum production capacity, they will not be able to sell all the vehicles and it will be obvious as the inventory will increase. Until demand increases Berlin and Texas will not be producing at the maximum capacity.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I don’t think Elon will quit. His ego won’t let him. If it is voted down a new comp plan will have to be agreed to take into account the past performance and future milestones.

Because unfortunately as tesla has grown parts of it are run in a very amateurish manner.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Does anybody have the stats for how many people are buying a Tesla for the first time and how many are trading in from an existing tesla ?

    Cybertruck is a scam.

If the management of any other auto maker had sense they would hire him. Someone like this can prevent problems with new product launches that others in a company are afraid to speak up about.

Inventory is pilling up in Europe so any reason to stop production helps prevent the build up.

Not sure how this is going to work in the EU. The working time directive allows for a 48 hour week max. https://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=706&langId=en&intPageId=205

    Supercharger team sacked?

China alone will make sure EVs don’t go the way of diesels, not to mention other countries like Norway.

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

A couple of years ago I thought Tesla is a juggernaut which will become the largest car maker and lead the way in the EV revolution. Now it looks like it may snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Its saving grace is that non Chinese automakers are not really interested in EVs.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

In theory with the existing battery tech and space constraints on the Y, what do people think is maximum range that can be achieved?
  13. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Finally an actual demand lever. It will be interesting to see if this helps increase sales significantly. I have noticed that because the leader said he thinks about 300 miles is enough range some people dismiss people who want more range. If Tesla’s has spare battery capacity for the Y then...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I agree and would add: Lack of targeted marketing at people who can afford the models and can charge at home. Restrictions in some states on sales and service centres. Some people aren’t online as much and need to physically be able to see and test drive vehicles. Others nearest service centre...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

If delivery’s are lower this year it will be funny seeing how they react. Currently some are in the denial phase then they will start to make excuses, then say it doesn’t matter. I am looking forward to next year, imo the key to increase sales will be if new models can be produced next year...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

This, I agree 100%. Tesla has laid the foundations to dominate but it seems Musk is snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Putting aside the RT, all Tesla had to do was keep producing one vehicle in each of the major categories whilst continuously increasing the charging network and...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

For starlink spacex have one set of regulators they have to satisfy. Spacex staff directly make, test and deploy the satellites. For super chargers Tesla has: 50 states each with different laws, regulations and processes to carry out building work. Different contractors. Different...

    Supercharger team sacked?

50 states each with different laws, regulations and processes to install chargers. Different contractors. Different landowners. Different power companies. Plus management of the maintenance of all the existing chargers. I would expect tesla to have hundreds of people dealing with all...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

In the context of supercharger deployment his statement is correct. Updated bio is irrelevant to the facts. Even if no new ones are built the existing ones under construction need Tesla staff dealing with all the issues as they are installed. So the upshot is other Tesla staff with no...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

The main man’s not thought this through. I suspect he knows sales will be down this year Whilst he is going all in on the RT. So what do you do to stay in profit or reduce the loss? Cut everything else. The problem is this can cause a vicious cycle which will result in even lower sales.
  21. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Starting to look like the strategy is to go all in on the RT, whilst cutting back everywhere else. The risk is that the RT is not a success in time whilst the existing business does not generate enough revenue. Whilst single-handedly keeping the US as a leader in space launches and kick...

With all the cuts profitability may stay the same.
  24. M

    Supercharger team sacked?

The guys losing it. Supercharging is what made EVs viable. Tesla invested in this for years and gradually built the best network. Now is the time to press the advantage but the leader seems to have other ideas.
  25. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Exactly, buyers will look to recoup the cost and make profits by charging more, doing less maintenance and not building new ones at the rate and quality that tesla has.

When I saw Tinucci was praised in an article I should have guessed her days are numbered.
  27. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Absolute madness, this is one area where Tesla had the foresight to invest in and as a result it is now the leader. Arguably EVs would not have been as viable without the network tesla built. Logically you continue to build on this strength. Even if team needs reducing, you keep some people to...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Previously the excuse was high interest rates for the slowdown in sales and now this. The Y is available and sitting in lots with no buyers. First part of dealing with a problem is acknowledging it. Either he knows the truth and can’t face reality or he doesn’t. Either way not good for the...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Exactly. I think it’s such a huge missed opportunity not going for other segments. Anything tesla makes will easily take a sizeable share of the market.
  31. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yeah, few governments have the courage to set a close firm date to stop ICE sales. Norway is the only major example but if they had an existing car industry it would have been more difficult for them to do so. Similarly part of the reason for China to stop ICE sales as quickly as possible is to...

The question then is how quickly can they get regulatory approval after 8/8.
  34. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Exactly. I suspect this strategy decision was made in the last few weeks. The best case scenario is a new model is produced this year and then takes time to get tested and approved before it can be sold. If a new model is shown on the 8/8 I hope someone asks how long will it take to get...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

If the inventory increased by $2.7B and say the average vehicle price is $50,000, does that mean Tesla was unable to sell 54,000 vehicles in the quarter?
  36. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

For some people the 3 and Y are the right size for them.
  37. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It means they will speed up production by Using existing factories and not building new ones. And don’t expect a $25,000 vehicle.
  38. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I was worried that Elon was going to double down on the RT or bust strategy but it seems like he has got the message that more models are needed asap. It’s a smart move using existing capacity rather than building a new factory. Now it’s a question of how well they execute and ramp up the...
  39. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

As long as it’s smaller than the 3/Y and less than $30,000 I think it will sell very well in Europe alone.
  40. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think tailored marketing is the way. Plenty of people in the US who buy vehicles in the price range of the 3 and Y and can charge at home. Any such area with a service centre nearby should have an advertising blitz with people being able to see and test drive the vehicles locally.

    Tesla in crisis?

He has learnt from what happened at one of his previous companies where the board removed him. So he has ensured board is full of yes men and so will not do anything.
  42. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Now this is actual helpful news. IF this agreement is signed and supply does start next year this is the biggest sign that a new vehicle is planned to start mass production next year. I hope it’s the smaller/cheaper vehicle.
  43. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

At the moment I don’t think Tesla is being proactive enough in reaching out to people who can charge at home. Once that demographic is saturated then this is going to be the next hurdle. If I was in charge I would do the planning and research now about installing chargers en mass at Street...
  44. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Tesla can cut prices as much as they want. However until they start targeted marketing on individuals who can afford the vehicles and charge at home sales will not increase to meet the production. A lot of consumers are not aware of how much it costs, the benefits of being able to charge at...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

“After this year’s experience, I feel it is freaking insane that any other new cars are even selling on the US market. The only logical choice in the “midrange new car” price range is a Tesla. Otherwise, you might as well just get a nice cheap used Honda or Toyota for basic transportation, or a...
