We stayed two nights in only 3 places (Eco Beach Resort Broome, Ashs Holiday Kurumba, Sanctuary Cove Hervey Bay for...

Day 24 7550 kms Round Australia clockwise from Perth Our sunset cruise last night was one of the best ever, starting with Croc, Kite and Jabiru spotting then a trip into the Gulf to a sand-bar where we were discharged to watch the sunset. Grilled locally caught prawns on the way home. This is...

Day 23 7175kms Round Australia clockwise from Perth Day of rest in Karumba. Yesterday's drive was one our most enjoyable so far. Different landscapes savanna, salt marshes, Jabiru, crocodiles, and very light traffic, which was good since there were several sections of single track tarmac. Our...

Day 22 of our Round Australia trip clockwise from Perth Although we have now reached the edge of the QLD DC network going south east, we are not following that route and are instead heading north again. We are not ready for the high-charging road yet and will go the low-charging road as long...

Day 21 of our Round Australia trip clockwise from Perth A short day of only 311 kms to Cloncurry. Shopping at Woolies Mt Isa, then charge at our overnight accommodation and a stroll through the Unearthed exhibition and Mary Kathleen park. The Barkly Tablelands crossing was exciting for us...

Day 20 of our Round Australia trip clockwise from Perth Today is theoretically the most difficult day, with a 447 kms drive to Camooweal. We have had several longer drives before, but there were 3p sockets en route which we could have used (but didn't need to). Hence planning today is...

Day 19 of our Round Australia trip clockwise from Perth We started with 463 kms in the tank today, for a journey of only 381 kms to ThreeWays. There is even a 3p charging spot on the way at Elliott, but totally unnecessary, especially since we a following wind. At one point we were driving at...

    Driving round Australia

Day 17 of our Round Australia trip clockwise from Perth We had 431 kms to drive today and left Darwin with 464 kms in the tank, so it should be easy, but we have an elevation rise and a headwind. We had pre-paid $15 for a charge at Katherine show grounds and have an access code, to be sure to...

Day 15 of our Round Australia trip clockwise from Perth Just 377 kms today from Timber Creek to Pine Creek with light winds, so we could drive just like an ICE. This drive was through hilly country and gorges, so there were elevation changes which initially concerned the car, but we tried to...

Day 13 is a day of rest. Car cleaning and shopping in this border town of Kununurra. Tomorrow we venture into the unknown out of West Australia to places and charging points we and the car have not seen before. Day 14 of our Round Australia trip clockwise from Perth Less than 300 kms today...

Day 12 of our Big Lap clockwise from Perth in a MS100D. Another day with strong Easterlies, but our trip is North to Kununurra. Cross winds reduce efficiency and range, but a lot less than a headwind. We also have a 370m elevation reduction. Further Horizon installed one of their 3p sockets at...

Day 11 of our Big Lap clockwise from Perth in a MS100D. Another day of strong headwinds, but no worries at all since we only drove 297 kms from Fitzroy Crossing to Halls Creek today, well within range even at our terrible efficiency of 220Wh/km (220 X 297= 70kWh out of our 89kWh battery...

Yes our MS and MX were delivered with the Gen1 UMC which is 3 phase , so we were very disappointed to receive the Gen 2 UMC with the M3s which is only 1 phase 32 amps = 7kW.

    Driving round Australia

This part of Australia (northern West Australia) is very remote with very few population centres and no purpose built charging stations. It will be the same through the Northern Territory (except for Darwin). At least the commercial 3phase sockets, which we are using, are fairly easy to find...

Day 10 of our Big Lap clockwise from Perth in a MS100D. The forecast suggested a strong headwind for our 397 kms trip from Broome to Fitzroy Crossing. So we decided to be cautious despite filling to 463 kms overnight at 7amps, perfectly timed for our ETD. The car quickly sensed the higher than...

Drafting works well on setting 7, but would be better closer. No chipped windscreen so far , but that is a constant risk. We were sandblasted once from sand falling off a newly loaded lorry. Worst risk is road kill which the truck straddles, but one truck actually led us round a big kangaroo...

Yes 70kph is hypermiling. We normally drive at 100kph drafting behind trucks if we need more range on long sectors with no DC charging. But our school zones are 40kph in Australia!

Day 5 our clockwise adventure Round Oz from Perth in our MS100D Today was very easy from Onslow to Karratha since we had managed to charge overnight on 10amps in Onslow , so left there with a full tank for a trip of only 303kms. Driving round Australia

On the first two days we had avoided stopping to day charge at Lancelin and Billabong on trips over 400 kms, so our third day with only 365 kms looked easy. But we had a strong side wind instead of the following wind of the first two days, and our drafting vehicles were less bulky and...

Western Power enforcing 32A supply allocation on rural/regional customers

They are. Their Standalone Power Systems cost $380,000 consisting of battery, solar PV and back up diesel generator, so not cheap. It would be far more expensive without the back up diesel, since the battery would have to be huge, but they are considering TOCEVA's dual fuel BiØFils to burn waste...

The Universal Mobile Connector is no longer standard equipment with new orders after 8 July 2022??

Remember to consider installing just a 32 amp 5pin socket on its own EV circuit. Then you plug in an UMC or an HPWC whichever you find to be better for you. And be able to take the UMC or HPWC on bush trips round WA where we have many 32 amp 5 pin sockets

The longest EV charging network in West Australia

We are trying to get the State to add Balladonia and Cocklebiddy to the "longest highway", by offering two BioFil 50kW chargers for $100,000 each. Can I just confirm whether full self driving on the 3 is transferable to a new owner

My first S85 from 2015 had free supercharging for life (of the car). This was brilliant except we only have one Supercharger in WA, 200kms south of Perth, and I sold the car without ever using it.
