    Autopark?

I'm on the free trial and have used it. It seems to require either painted lines on the ground or cars that it can park next to.

    Hands-Free Trunk

No complaints here; it's programmed exactly like I would like it to be and I can't think of anything that could be done to improve it. It starts its countdown within a second or two of stopping behind the car, the countdown beeps and flashes are very obvious and hard to miss, and it gives you...

Full FSD Free Trial: Why I'd never buy it . . . ever.

I'm actually working on that option for my car right now. The PCB I designed should arrive in the next few days and then I'll get to start snooping CAN data and writing firmware to use the steering wheel controls to control my new cruise options to make the car behave exactly like I want it to...

When will trial start rolling out?

It doesn't help you now, but I bet if you had scheduled it to install later at a specific time it wouldn't have gone away. I always use the schedule option if I'm too busy to install right away and never had the new firmware disappear.

Is there any way to turn on 'Minimal Lane Changes for the Current Drive' without going into the settings (Model S/X)?

It does do one thing: it's an alternative way to clear the steering wheel nags when they pop up. I prefer it to putting torque on the wheel since. For me the buttons have a lot lower risk of accidentally disengaging autosteer / FSD.

Still no Bumper Cam or Ambient Lighting.

Autopark is included in the 2024.14.6 update that is rolling out to cars right now. My car got the update on Monday and I'd expect most cars to have it within a week or two. I didn't see any options for summon, but I didn't go looking for it either.

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

The trolley problem always seems ridiculous because it completely ignores the third option, which is the one any self driving car is going to do: brake as hard as possible without deviating from the lane the car is in. FSD seems to be programmed to avoid going faster than it can see so should...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I didn't notice any correlation like that. What I have noticed is that the nags are much more frequent around sunrise, sunset, and on very overcast days. I get almost no nags driving on a sunny day or at night. I'm guessing it might be caused by glare on my glasses preventing the interior...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

No, it's definitely a Google map data problem. Prior to about a year ago all the driveways in my area were visible on Google maps and in the Tesla navigation map (since it uses Google data). They disappeared in both places at the same time and also around that time everyone that uses an...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

No, I don't have any unintentional disengagements anymore. When I was first using it, all my unintentional disengagements were from trying to clear the nags by applying torque on the wheel. I solved that by only using the "unused" buttons on steering wheel (sideways clicks on the right scroll...

Guesses on whether the "Spring Update" will actually happen in the Spring?

It has FSDS 12.3.6 and still has nags. I didn't notice any difference in nag behavior since my V11 trial. It still nags a lot around sunrise / sunset and on overcast days. It's a lot less frequent on sunny days or after dark. I also found out that pressing the cruise control button does not...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Speed limits show up properly on Apple Maps. I suspect they don't show up properly on Google Maps, but I don't use that much anymore. I do know for sure that Google "forgot" a lot of mapping information for the area about a year ago. It no longer knows where most driveways are, even though it...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I usually keep hands on the wheel even with FSD engaged, but apparently with too light of a touch when I'm on a straight road. It feels to me like the amount of torque needed to clear the nag is variable depending on why the car decided to give me the nag and when the torque required is at the...

    FSD free trial

It was funny when I got the update. I checked manually upon arriving home and getting on the Wifi in my garage and it said I was up to date. Then about an hour or two later I got a notification on my phone that I had a software update available. So the automatic checks seem to be unrelated to...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I got the trial last night and did a few drives with it already. It's MUCH improved over the v11 trial, but I'll probably turn it back off this afternoon until they add back an option to switch between between FSDS and TACC quickly. Here's the list of things that are issues for me on the roads...

    Peeling yoke replacement

I took apart a yoke so I could use the buttons for something else. I was pretty surprised when I found out the buttons aren't bolted or clipped to anything. They have posts sticking back into some foam that holds the buttons in place. Seems like the buttons weren't held in the correct...

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

Exactly, I like the mirror to point to where I can see the rear wheels as I back into a parking spot close to the curb. However, when driving forward I want the mirrors to point farther away from the side of the car to minimize the size of the blind spots. The cameras are worse than the...

    2023 Model S is a disappointment.

Maybe if you weren't going for the horn and kept both hands on the wheel you could have made it around the other car. I've been in the same situation going 55-60 down the road and just did the "moose test" maneuver to avoid the car instead of choosing to smash into it while honking.

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

They should bring back separate mirror position settings for drive and reverse. The current software that just moves the mirror down is pretty crappy for those of us who like to have the mirrors adjusted out while driving.

Anyone ever use yoke touch buttons for another project

Sure, but it's basically free used right now and should be an easy way to add ~20 functions to the steering wheel. An interface circuit will be pretty cheap, even if I get a custom PCB made for it.

Supervise self driving goes too close

The indicator light is in fact a button, it just doesn't have any documented actions. If you're snooping the LIN bus, you'll see that it sends out a signal for that button when pressed. Using the information that it does send a signal out, I tested out whether it could be used to satisfy the...

Supervise self driving goes too close

It's not the same as pressing the scroll wheel, it's just super easy to click the scroll wheel button when you're trying to move it side-to-side. I'm convinced that this is the only reason why those buttons aren't used to select following distance. You can, however, use the left/right click to...

Driver input required for FSD 12 - Window switch

I realized today that you can also use the cruise control touch button (the one between the horn/camera button and the wiper button) to satisfy the input nag. Incidentally, I also discovered that if you press the horn button by mistake, it does not satisfy the input nag.

Regret purchasing FSD after the Ver 12 "upgrade" being crammed down my throat

I wonder if we'll start to see aftermarket cruise control kits for sale to fill in for this. I'm already working on something for my own car, but there's absolutely no way I would want to take on the liability of selling it to someone else. I was just going to have it automatically override...

Tesla: Highlights from our upcoming Spring Release below

Agreed. I don't see much point of having the visualization so prominent outside of testing. The only thing I use it for is figuring out what the car sees around it that makes TACC decide to hit the brakes for no apparent reason. Now that I've figured out what to look for, I can preemptively...

Dash showing more range than when new

It just uses a different Wh/mi efficiency number when converting battery % to miles. For example for my old P85 (with guesses for the ideal numbers since I didn't ever use ideal range): Useable battery capacity: 79.5 kWh Rated efficiency: 300 Wh/mi 100% rated range = 79500 / 300 = 265 mi Ideal...

My on going battle regarding my purchase of a used 2013 Model S P85+

The title still matches, (or at least a Michigan title would) it would just show the VIN and list the car as a Tesla Model S Station Wagon in any case. The trim level isn't on the title at all.

This Latest Attempt to Force FSD Upon Everyone is Hurting the FSD Cause More Than Helping

The behavior is different depending on your settings (this is from my experience with my 3-month FSD v11 trial, but I think it's still the same): - If you have Full Self Driving selected, the car will go through green lights without waiting for input from the driver, but will stop at red lights...

This Latest Attempt to Force FSD Upon Everyone is Hurting the FSD Cause More Than Helping

This was my experience with it, too. If I'm on a 55 mph road, I have to prompt it as soon as it sees the light or the car will start slowing down, but since I have to prompt it so far away, there was close to a 50% chance the light would change by the time I got to it. I was much happier just...

    Premium connectivity doesn't connect - 2nd hand 2013 Model S P85

The other alternative is to just upgrade the cellular module, which was $200 several years ago. I did that first and then did the MCU2 upgrade a year or two later. The MCU2 upgrade is worth it, although if you're short on spare cash after spending the money on the car, just doing the cell...

"Clunk" feeling between acceleration and regen

When this happened on my P85, it was due to the "safety" washer behind the axle nut needing to be replaced. You can turn Roll mode on with The Commander from enhauto.com. I haven't tested whether it will remain on following a power cycle or not since I've now gotten used to the Hold mode and I was just playing around with the different options. The other interesting thing is that the Model S (and...

Anyone received UWB (Ultra Wideband) phone key functionality on Refreshed MS?

Were you looking at "Trip" or "Rated"? Were you parked in a garage at home for the first trip and outside before the return trip? A 4 mile trip is very short, so the difference is almost certainly due higher HVAC use for cabin heating on the return trip if the energy app didn't say anything...
