    Continental Tire Cut < 45 Days(1600 Miles)

I know you're the tire guy and all, but I personally wouldn't assume that hole in the pic is benign. I'd stick something into it to see how deep it goes before I'd keep driving on it. Maybe you're right but I'd verify cause it could be deeper than it seems.

Why didn't Tesla offer a non-stagger wheel option for the MYP?

    Geminis ain't so bad....

    Tire losing air

Submerging the tire in water is a sure fire way. Even a slow leak produces bubbles. Smaller leaks = smaller bubbles. This is what the tire shops do. I don't mean spraying water on it on the car.
  6. Iron

    Tire losing air

A hard to find leak can be found by putting the tire in water so you can see the bubbles. This means the bathtub when the wife ain't home.

Need help deciding on a purchase

The MYP wheels are staggered, so no rotating and tires get more expensive, the larger they get. I'm happy with the 19s and aftermarket plastic covers.

Discussion: Resale values - depreciation -- Time to buy resale or wait?

People's memories are getting shorter every day. The price of EVs might be going down right now, but all it takes is one world event to drive up oil prices ands they'll come running. Just a few short years ago, we were up over $5 a gallon...

    FSD free trial is over

This is just horrible. Maybe you should notify Tesla so they can turn off the extended freebie immediately.

Protecting the Frunk Latch from water? Car thinks the frunk is open when it's actually closed.

Hope you took some pics and definitely take the car in for service. Hard downpours shouldn't cause this. Flooding, yes but not downpours. You shouldn't have to be thinking about how to seal things.

    FSD free trial is over

This is one time I might believe him. He didn't give this free FSD just to gain subscribers. He wanted the data to feed the Dojo supercomputer. Combined with neural net, it might be true. Imagine a day when the cars are all aware of each other's position via GPS or close range communication...

Keeps Staying the Highway Passing Lane

Here on the East coast, I'm used to the left lane being called the fast lane, not the passing lane. Basically, if you're driving slow or like staying right at the speed limit, you stay in the right lane. Those that are pushing the pedal a bit harder, stay in the middle and even harder, stay...

    Free trial? There....I fixed it.
  17. Iron

    FSD free trial is over

Aaah yes. The nannying to make sure you are supervising it is the worst part. It's like having the ex-wife next to me as I drive. Next annoying things are the way it stays centered in the lane at all times, not a natural thing to do when I'm in the left or right lanes, especially next to...

    FSD free trial is over

I'm sad... but not $99 a month kinda sad. I didn't even use it much but I liked having it there at the ready. Anyone subscribing or paying the 8K? I have the feeling that it's about to jump back up after the Dojo got fed with all this data.

    Martian wheels

Good job. I won't buy from them. Matter of fact, I'll stick with my Tesla wheels and plastic caps, thank you.
  21. Iron

Buying a used Tesla and I have concerns.

This wouldn't be a hard decision for me. You're buying a used car with visible defects (and who knows how they treated the battery), for a price that is not very distant from new when you apply tax credits and they keep lowering prices.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

As you know, not your fault, but I get how that can happen. Not an FSD thing, I was in full control and braked up on the highway when traffic stopped short at an exit. Wasn't going fast....it was the kind of thing where you're rolling along at maybe 15 mph, then someone a few cars ahead cuts...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I was saying this earlier, but the data is their big prize. I don't mind helping out, but we are all guinea pigs, so drive carefully or rather, watch carefully.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

IMHO, the reason for the steep price cuts and the free month are dual purposed. Yes, they will gain an influx of subscribers but the main reason, is to flood the Dojo supercomputer with data. I expect that supervised FSD will be on another level soon (I won't say full FSD, that remains to be...

wheel bearings? noise? and aftermarket wheels

Basically means the wheel bearings cannot be serviced. The hub is sealed and you can't get to the bearings so when they wear out, you basically replace the one piece unit. The opposite would be serviceable wheel bearings.

wheel bearings? noise? and aftermarket wheels

Every manuf uses sealed hubs these days. Been that way for decades.
  27. Iron

    Well, that’s lovely…

You can plug that thing without even removing the wheel and call it a day. Personally, I think if the time comes (hopefully never), I'll prefer plug over patch for these foam lined tires. This is after reading some of the horror stories. My thinking is that the reamer tool then plug, will...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Not confused at all. I'm pretty attuned to low frequencies can hear/feel the engine vibrations when an ICE car pulls up in my driveway and that's from the other side of the house when everyone else hears nothing. The wife says I have a superpower. LOL The buffeting/pressure and the booming...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

It certainly is the booming sound, just that the source of the deep rumbling, is actually road and suspension noise being amplified somehow. I've never believed it to be hatch related from the start and me hearing it with the hatch open was my proof. So people claiming it has improved when...

    FSD free trial

I find it to be...well gimmicky. If I have somewhere to be, such as driving to work, I take the wheel. I can't trust it to even drive out of my subdivision due to a particularly tricky intersection with no traffic lights. So yeah, it's fun to test it and see what it does if I'm not pressed...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

You don't have to go fast. I heard it the second I pulled off and I was in a bumpy parking lot. It sound more like the suspension sounds are being transmitted up into the trunk and resonating in the open space.
  35. Iron

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Drive with your hatch wide open for a minute. I still heard the deep bass resonance when I did. It could be coming from anywhere but the back makes the most sense as it's shaped to echo. Lower frequencies are very hard to pinpoint as the waves go everywhere, which is why you can place a...

Maybe I’m overreacting?! 😱 [first curb rash]

Well it didn't record for some strange reason (see my thread), but I wasn't volunteering that info. Not to belabor the point, but the true motivation is in the possibility that the footage exists and you'd be caught in a lie on your job. If you're a valet, which car brand is the last you'd...

Maybe I’m overreacting?! 😱 [first curb rash]

Yeah, normally I wouldn't either. It wasn't a restaurant or anything...I was at a major hospital and the situation warranted me handing them the key. Having cameras all around the car is a strong motivator when it comes to fessing up.

    Tire foam, remove or not?

There are tires that are quieter based on tread pattern. I'd seek that out versus the foam fill.
  40. Iron

Maybe I’m overreacting?! 😱 [first curb rash]

Yeah, I was able to get a new set from the establishment, since the seller wouldn't sell just one. They were relieved to discover that they were wheel covers and they wouldn't have to replace a wheel.
  41. Iron

You baby your car and then 5 minutes with a valet....

Was reading back thru this thread and realized I never followed up on this question. Well, the wheel underneath did not suffer any damage, so the cover did a great job of protecting it.

Maybe I’m overreacting?! 😱 [first curb rash]

Agreed on beefy tires. This Tesla is my first vehicle with the wheels sticking out like they do. It happens. My wheels were perfect till I gave my key to a careless valet a while back... https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/you-baby-your-car-and-then-5-minutes-with-a-valet.302912/

Maybe I’m overreacting?! 😱 [first curb rash]

Speed is not the only issue, force and angle are as well. You can mitigate it yes, but rubber gives & concrete doesn't. If you're backing in at a bad enough angle even at a snail's pace, the concrete will push the rubber in and scrape your wheel quite easily. You might get away with a light...

    Painted Brake Calipers Voids Warranty

Think about what you're posting. Not the whole system. Wear items are things like brake pads and rotors. The caliper is covered by warranty, else they wouldn't have denied it based on paint, they would have said it wasn't covered in the first place.
  45. Iron

    Painted Brake Calipers Voids Warranty

Remember, it's a Tesla. With regen, I doubt the brakes will see high temps. Same reason why the pads will probably last the life of the car. OP, do you have aftermarket wheel covers? If so, remove them and test again. I know those can click. Also, if you removed the calipers, did you pull...

Yes, you do need to lift it off the ground.

Rusty (yellowish) liquid coming from center of the both front wheels

That's a weird color to be rust. Take off the wheel and see. If it is truly rust, I'd wash it down with a brush and brake cleaner, then apply a coat of grease with a toothbrush.

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

I posted the solution in this thread (post #4) a while back. I release the first clip or two from inside the wheel with extended reach pliers, then I can yank the rest. Mine hold really tight and no breaks yet, so indeed, you may have gotten shitty covers . This is part of the reason why I do...

Why can't you order a new Model Y?

That may be the case right now due to high inventory, but it wasn't the case when I ordered mine early last year. It got built and I waited a long time till they sent me the VIN, then I waited some more...
