Unless you are on a legacy S/X I don't think the tabs above the wheels do anything. they use to reboot the drivers display computer on MCU1 cars where the drivers display was a separate display and computer. I don't know what turning the car off means. Are you talking about Power Off...

Note clear what you mean by reboot, hard reboot, turn the "car off" -- many use those terms loosely. There is a Power Off menu option (2 minute wait without touching anything) See: Wiki - Model X Reset Techniques

As well v12 is often not staying centered in lanes and touches or even goes over neighboring lane lines. My spouse is pretty tolerant of my FSD testing but geez when it is near the lane line (right) and there is a car in the right lane she questioned what the he11 FSD was doing.

Another distinction is that vehicles without the cabin camera only get 3 warnings before the ~1 week "timeout" vs 5 warnings.

I take a lot of road trip and I used Range Mode on those highway drives. I can't imagine it stresses the front halfshalves tho cruising down the highway. I have Scan-My-Tesla hooked up so I can see that it is using the front motors when cruising. ______________________________________________...

Not sure if I've read that before or perhaps just forgot. Range mode, I think, just emphasis front motors while cruising down a highway. Not a lot of stress on the front shafts there I wouldn't think.

You can see that on the fly in the Cybertruck Service Mode screens that ever owner can access. I captured those screens here.

Had this happen to our 2017 the other day. The FWD just went up part way thinking there was an obstacle. I could override it of course. Once it cooled down it worked as expected.

Aside: we carry our e-bikes exactly as you do (without batteries and heavier one closest to the car). [I never considered the strap but I bought some recently for a move. I may try them "down the road.")

Which model X you have will make a difference in your planning. Guessing you are getting a new 2024 (or a used inventory or service vehicle). The ABetterRoutePlanner (ABRP) planner is more what you want to do a simulation with. Google search it.

My FSD (12.3.4 '17 TMX) works OK but awful in the rain (limit speeds in light rain) and does not handle narrow mountain roads very good at all as far as lane centering. These types of roads have "rumble strip" under the center/yellow and side/white line. My FSD would make noise on both of them...

Hey @ChrisC (!) --- I see what you mean about Rivian and there current state. The only adapter I've seen that seems to have gotten great reviews by a few tech people I respect were the A2Z ones. Aside: I'm currently on a roadtrip and did a segway tour in Atlanta GA and had a great time.

Did either of you go into the 'service' menu and do the reinstall OTA option. I've done it once successfully after a failure. The software is already on your 'harddisk' partitions so it just reinstalls what is there.

This is now installing on my 2017 Model X ... TeslaFI indicates ~44 minutes that it is taking others. Taking roadtrip soon so hopefully install goes smoothly.
