A boomer mods his booming Y. The fix

So within 50 miles driving my new Y I have a significant problem. Low frequency booming air pressure. I’m hyper sensitive to this phenomenon with a single window down and the air pressure “thrumming “ or booming or what ever it’s called. I just know I hate it. So my new car is doing this over...

Reporting in the field from carmax

So I sold my M3 to carmax now I’ve picked my my new .99 Y. They gave me exactly what they quoted online but the told me that I’m lucky. They are getting a ton of Tesla owners doing what I just did. So he’s expecting the offering prices to fall in a few days.

Picked up new LR Y from inventory

Shout out to the folks at the Irvine Tesla Service Center/Delivery . The car was spot on perfect. Clean, detailed, nothing out of place. Gaps good etc. This one was built in Fremont for those interested. Blue/B/W interior 5 seat. Busy at 6PM with 15 people in front of me and 5 more behind me...

Has anyone else ordered the new LR Y RWD?

I decided to bite on the new LR Y RWD and save myself 3K plus vs an AWD. The only difference I could see was a 2 second acceleration and I "should" get a few more miles of range. The other is there is not any delivery date for the LR RWD and I could have gotten the AWD this week from stock.

2023/24 mod to get chrome Window trim

My 2019 M3 has the chrome and my SO and I really like the look on the blue. Not a fan of the "murdered out" look. I have seen some kits with stick on stainless trim. Not a real fan of that either but that seems to be the only option short of pulling the car apart and either plating what I have...

    Sequoia National Forrest

I just got back from a short and fast trip from Los Angeles to General Sherman Tree in the Sequoia National Forrest. The trip is about 5-6 hours there with a couple of charges on the way up. I have a Model 3 STD Plus so I have short legs :) I charged at Tejon which is pretty normal for me...

M3 front door speaker connector source and PN

So the last owner of my 2019 M3 ( lease return) butchered the tweeters ( cut the connectors, soldered speaker wire directly to the speakers and crimped the other end) and did the same to the two midrange/woofers in the front doors. What I learned is that the green connector for the woofers that...

Review: TWRAPS precut PPF bumper and headlights/fog lights wrap

Note: I bought this.. not a paid review or a comp'ed review. My own hard earned cash :) I got the Model 3 bumper kit and the headlight and foglight kit. Why? because it was under 200 vs the 2K I was quote to wrap the front of the car. Why wrap? Because I drive out in sandy desert places at...

    Higher Milage used Tesla caveats?

Looking at a used M3 LR for 27K with 84K miles. Comestically, the car is in very good shape. It looks to have been a commuter car hence the higher miles. On ICE, that was high milage.. But the tesla seems to age differently. I'm not worried about the motor or battery. Its more about the struts...

Weird experience with my M3 and a Turo rental

I love the seats in my 2019 M3 Partial premium. I rented a 2020 M3 dual motor and the front seat is a different beast. My profile when it is used on the 2020 is completely wrong.. not by a little.. by a lot. And the killer is the #&&@# lumbar support. I cant get it to go flat like my 2019. Is...

Vendor Autel MaxiCharger AC Wallbox Home 40A Review

Autel supplied the charger to review. With that said, there are some very good points to this charger and two minor issues. This review is for the Autel Maxicharger AC Wallbox Home EV Charger 40A. The reason for the 40 amp rating on this unit is because it has a NEMA 14-50 pigtail already...

Good news for Standard Plus M3 Partial Premium owners

For all of us that lost out on Fog Lights, a bit of good news. There have been hacks for some time now where you install the lights then tap into the wiring. Then there was Ingenext's Bonus module which let us swap in the lights, plug them in and turn them on/off but only from their web...

    EVgo now mimics supercharger

So the new plug and go for teslas at EVgo works pretty well and supports both the tesla ccs adapter or the A2Z adapters. The setup is a bit klunky. You need to add the car plus vin. Then you actually need to go to the charger and use the app to finish up. You have to set up the session then you...

    Orange County Car Show 2022

Smaller than I remember and missing a few key players like Cadillac Lyriq. But much busy at 9pm on a Friday than I expected. Cautionary Tale of reservations

Interesting observation about CCS Setec adapter and losing range

PSA about why you should NOT use auto lift trunk struts

The three pictures say it all. After five months, one of the struts came apart when I opened the trunk, went sideways under force and cracked my rear glass in my M3. The 2nd struct when I pulled it out, has a crack running through the plastic head but had not broken yet.. it was on it's way...

Ready for my next road trip

I've picked up both a SETEC CCS adapter and a Chad adapter for my M3. Road Warrior or two to survive with short legs :)

My 2019 M3 is a great car but short legs. Its a standard plus so the very best range is 215 miles at 100%. I'm letting my subscription go.. I've had it for two months and too many stupid choices were made by it. It consistently wants to drift left when there is an on ramp for the highway/freeway. 1,500 Miles and another song on the all night radio :)

    Frunk Thoughts or Engineering Disaster

So who thinks about a Frunk? Most of us assume there is one.. I mean, we used to put engines there right? Now the engine is gone and at worst, there is a small electric motor and some supporting electronics. Being curious, I poked around some.. this is what I have found so far and it's been...

Farasla Outdoor Car Cover for Tesla Model 3 with Storage Bag

This is a brand new cover that I put in the car once to see how it fit compared to the original Farasla I bought. The cover is really nice, looks very close to the OEM Tesla cover down to the flap so you can charge. Which leads to why I have two of them. I bought one and then complained to...
