Heatmap for parking

Last week I rented a Model 3 and noticed while parking it displayed what looked like a heatmap of objects nearby rather than the distance to the object. I can’t seem to find out how to enable this feature on my 2022 Model 3. Any ideas?

You’re seeing vision-based Park Assist, which is used in newer Teslas without USS (ultrasonic sensors). Your car probably has USS, so it still uses the older Park Assist with distances.

I guess vision-based Park Assist has come a long way, because most people complained about it at first and wanted the old version back. 🙂

The new features and visualizations are cool. But ultimately USS still has better accuracy. Especially for the front.

The new park assist display is fun and impressive, but there's something still missing: informative tones.

I can't look three places at once (out the windows, backup camera, & display), but I can easily look one place and listen for warning tones.

This video is out of date, but demonstrates the problem:

Seems like it would be easy to fix that.

I also own a 2022 Model 3 and park assist (the "heatmap" you mentioned) became available to my car with the latest software update. You need to enable it though from your settings.

I just got the 30 day complimentary FSD and noticed that vision-based Park has been enabled on my M3. I wonder if it has to do with FSD or have all M3’s received it?
Even after the FSD trial expires, you will have vision-based Park assist, it came with the latest software update. My FSD trial expired, and I still have vision-based Park assist. Please note that this is not Autopark, it is basically just showing the "heatmap" you mentioned in your original post.
