FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

The separation power of the average human eye, in good light, is about 1 minute of arc, or about 0.0003 radians, or about 0.29 mils, Which means that an average observer -- Can see a person (as a dot) at about 2 or 3 km or 1 or 2 miles, provided that the person wears clothing which makes a good...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

To be pedantic, all turns are simple given the right traffic conditions. Crossing 4 lanes each way is easy when there's no other cars around. 3 lanes each way with a median and moderate traffic is not simple. Heck, a 2 lane road with heavy traffic can be impossible within a reasonable amount...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It's much easier for a human, as we have a visual range of about 3 miles. If the Telsa had cameras with a 2500 feet distance, it would likely perform much better.

    FSDs is dangerous

This is true for lots of technology, not just FSD. I've driven my Tesla for so long now that when I had to drive a friends ICE car, I panicked briefly when I let off the gas and the car didn't slow down. Oh yeah - brake pedal. :)

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

This is purely anecdotal but I've tested a few times and the high school near me causes 25mph during the day, but doesn't in the late afternoon and evening. Not sure if this new behavior or an aberration.

FSD 12.3.6 issues not following map navigation, question?

Check Settings - Navigation There is a setting for rerouting to save time. Mine is set for 10 mins. Meaning if another route will save me 10 mins or more, it'll reroute. U-Turns are a new behavior, and may not work properly depending on if the car thinks it can make it. I've had it fail and...

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

I think you misunderstood me. I never said they're feeding random videos to it. Of course they are only feeding good driver videos. Could you imagine feeding bad driver video into the system? As for the traffic laws, we're both locked in our positions, so we'll end that discussion. Was...

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

Something like this: https://www.thinkautonomous.ai/blog/tesla-end-to-end-deep-learning/ The DOT has guidance they offer, but it's up to the municipalities and states to adopt them. DOT would need to update their guidance, and states would need to adopt them. Another example, aside from my...

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

Glad I could entertain you, Gear. Humans are geofenced, in a very generalized way. We get comfortable with our local traffic laws, how our intersections work, how our roundabouts work, being able to turn on red, or being in the intersection when the light turns red, etc. If you go on a...

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

Our traffic laws are not ready for ADAS and AVs. Unfortunately our legislators are old, and just can't move at the speed of technology.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Seriously people? NHTSA is up Tesla's ass on driver monitoring - "Fixed" means the monitoring will be back, and that nag-free drives for 10 mins was a bug.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I think it's a weight issue with the model. I think the default is to go into the left most turn lane, but the navigation had it turning right in 500 feet after the turn, so the two were fighting.
  16. D

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I finally experienced the "waffling" on a left turn. It couldn't make up its mind which lane to get in. Really simple to correct, I just disengaged, picked the lane and reengaged about 2 seconds later.

FSD 12.3 today - utter failure!

Sorry ewood, but I must agree with Alan. I even helped him validate offsets to confirm. I have personally never experienced excessive speeding with v12 yet. My car will keep up with the flow of traffic around me on ASSO, and have had it go 55 in a 45 due to traffic flow, but never in light or...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I'll just toss my observations in here for fun: The cameras can absolutely see quite a ways away. This is evident and observable easily by pinch zooming out at an intersection and watching the car track all the traffic all 4 ways. The distance is also pretty accurate. This is also evident...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

For now, until laws catch up with technology, robotaxis are okay: If your L3 or higher system bends/breaks the traffic laws (rolls a stop, cuts a yellow too close and runs a red, changes lanes over a solid white line, speeds, etc.) they cannot be cited. Our L2 FSD obviously can be cited...

Regret purchasing FSD after the Ver 12 "upgrade" being crammed down my throat

Tesla trained chimp here. Been training for about 3.5 years. All the training has left me with a car that is fun to drive and takes me almost everywhere on FSD with minimal interaction from me. It's a bummer it doesn't work well for you, but sounds like you found something better for you in...

In this case, wouldn't FSD creep to gain visibility? It wasn't a controlled intersection.
  29. D

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

So to be clear before I once again call my local police station, and local DMV, you're concerned that stopping 6-8 feet from a stop line (or crosswalk at an intersection) is illegal. Or do you think it's legal, but just not appropriate and can cause safety issues?
  30. D

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Glad you admit to driving illegally when you deem it best for you and others around you. Nothing wrong with admitting you break the law. 😁. I'm sure a police officer, if questioned, would absolutely agree that speeding when everyone else is doing so is correct and legal. 😉
  31. D

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Hmmm.... The law also requires many other things including not speeding, but we all know your thoughts on which laws you obey and which you ignore. 😋

You should DM Alan and let him know the name and contact info of your driving instructors so he can reach out to them and let them know they're wrong. 😁

Does $2k upgrade from EAP to FSD include upgrading CW 2.5 to FSD computer for free?

They're referring to the number of miles to recalibrate the cameras - it took them about 50 miles to finish calibration so the system would work.

    Tesla ADAS Incident Reports

More importantly, we have no confirmation that the car was on AP at the time. There have been many accidents where the driver claims the car was on AP, but turns out it wasn't. It's a common human "panic" statement when faced with possible criminal or civil penalties - "It wasn't my fault"
  35. D

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Okay - reading that gave me a headache. :) Every point they make is also true when you have to leave - meaning you have to back out of the parking spot.
  36. D

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Since I've been on v12, FSD "parks" for me at my house. By "park", I mean that it arrives at my house and then hunts for an open spot on the curb and then pulls over and parks at the curb. Previously it just stopped in the middle of the street and said I've arrived.
  37. D

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Hyperbole aside, robotaxis on the road today (ala Waymo) don't park. They pull over to a curb and pick up a passenger, then drop them off in a similar manner at their destination, then continue driving to their next pick up. Not to say they won't someday be able to park in a carpark, but for...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I read an article about self parking systems available in many cars today. The question came up about why auto parking systems don't park forward, only backwards. The author's response was "Because parking forward is incredibly easy, so it doesn't need to be automated". LOL

Just got 12.3.6 this morning. Loving the new auto park - tested it out three times so far. I was worried the Intel Atom cars wouldn't get the new feature, but it's there! The next logical step will be to have the car auto park when it arrives at its destination. It drove me to my building...

    FSD (Supervised) Camera Calibration

I personally had this happen once in the 3.5 years I've had my Tesla. The only solution that worked for me was to start over. Get close to a freeway entrance and then put the car in park and clear the camera calibration. Then drive onto the freeway and drive until both AP and FSD have...

If I recall correctly, Auto Park has been vision only for some time, since late v10. Early versions used USS to park, hense the requirement of a space between two cars. Once vision Auto Park was released you could park in any empty spot as long as the markings were clear.

    Can FSD hallucinate?

I think you missed the scary part of article. Engineers have created a device that can fool nearly any radar system into seeing phantom objects like other cars when they aren't there. Imagine teenagers using that to cause mayhem in cities with AVs.

    Can FSD hallucinate?
