Over here in Europe we have:
- commission for the broker;
- exchange rate fee as $TSLA in in dollars, not euro;
- transaction tax

That's why it is not profitable to swing trade using small accounts over here. It starts getting interesting if you can make trades of $10k at least.

But no capital-gains tax, so on long investments with a good return, we win...

Self-explanatory:

Joele Frank Ranked First in M&A League Tables for First Quarter of 2018

Joele Frank was ranked first in The Deal’s M&A league tables among PR Firms for the First Quarter of 2018, with 22 transactions. In 2017, for the fifth consecutive year, Joele Frank was ranked #1 in the annual M&A league tables among PR Firms in number of deals by Corporate Control Alert. Joele Frank also ranks consistently among the top M&A communications advisors in the U.S. and globally according to data produced annually by Mergermarket.

We used to have a 2% tax on trades, called commissions. No one liked them :)
Longer ago, we had the "stamp tax".

Stock transfer tax

Here's the really weird part. It's still on the books. NYSE and NASDAQ trades have to pay it. But then the state government *refunds it to the brokers*.

They... don't have to do that. They could and should stop doing that.

So they do mergers and acquisitions, but is that considered to be different from a buyout?

Well, while keeping in mind VolumeBot's limitations, if 63% of yesterday's volume was shorting, then by mathematical necessity only 37% of the volume was available to close the short position.
We clarified this; it's 67% of *sell side* trades which are *short-sell-to-open*. Says nothing about buy-side trades.

Their "Transactions Communications" Practice also includes "going-private transactions" and buyouts:

We regularly provide strategic counsel and support to acquirers, targets and “white knights” in complex, high profile corporate transactions of all varieties, including:
  • Friendly mergers and acquisitions
  • Unsolicited takeovers
  • Cross-border transactions
  • Leveraged-buyouts and going-private transactions
  • Divestitures, spin-offs and initial public offerings
  • Joint ventures and partnerships
We prepare our clients to communicate effectively the strategic rationale and financial benefits of their transaction, and to address potential concerns raised by investors, analysts, the media, employees, customers, regulators, local communities and others who could influence the outcome. Transaction Communications - Joele Frank
They apparently offer a wide range of PR services, but PR around major transactions of various types (including buyouts and going-private transactions) seems to be a major specialty.

So the NYT writes a lopsided story and you have to hire crisis management?
Tesla hired a M&A specialist since they are doing this going private thing and they need financial specialists. They've hired a lot in the past few weeks.
The crisis management part is just the normal negative spin the media puts on everything Tesla does.

What a strange day for trading... the eTrade graphs indicate almost an hour with no action, volume or SP, then it just shoots up a point to over 320, still minimal volume.

What's up? Or are eTrade's graphs just wrong...
I'll answer my own question, it's eTrade's graphs... Yahoo's shows a lot of trading in the same period. Odd.

I have been interviewed one single time, by an author and freelancer and in my opinion the article was accurate and neutral. Ironically, the article was published in the NYT. But this is now 14 years ago and I guess times have changed. Btw, the journalist's name is Peter Wayner.
Here is a link to that article, for anyone interested.

Well, "flat" cells should have superior heat management (if dimensions are right), as they expose more thermical contact surface, plus it's easier for viscous cooling liquids (such as glycol) to flow.

Is this correct? Any object cut into smaller pieces presents a greater external surface area - do cut that "flat" cell into strips and you'll get better cooling... I know this from the old question regarding whether thin-cut chips/frites/fries* absorb more fat than thicker cut... You see, my life hasn't been all about delinquency as you previously imagined...

How much would your transaction costs be, if you would buy for example 5 times for 2000 € each (to average down) and sell it with 2 or 3 transactions? With my current broker, which is a bit more expensive than some others, i'd have roughly 20 € in overall transaction costs over here in Germany. That would be a 0.2% stock price movement in the right direction to achieve breakeven. Personally i usually use derivatives leveraged by a factor of 2 or 3, which is a more risky, but results in an earlier breakeven and binds less capital. Not sure how much you guys have to pay in Belgium, but with such a setup swing trading on a daily or weekly basis should be possible.
