Later than many of us were hoping, perhaps unrealistically."12, probably not more than 18 months, from volume production of the 4680s" - Elon

I'm sure I audibly groaned when he said that just knowing the FUD that is sure to come out there."Elon Musk says WWII was Trivial!!"

Though at the same time, they confirmed that they're doubling battery capacity orders from suppliers for next year. So if they're targeting 1 million for this year.....seems like they're shooting for 2 million in 2022Later than many of us were hoping, perhaps unrealistically.
I thought this was a for sure known thingI am thinking Plaid+ might be waiting for 4680s...

18 months is end of 2022.
So will those 1.5 million Ys in 2022 all be 2170 or something? Thought Berlin at least was 100% for sure 4680 and Austin Y and CT was expected to be too?
That could easily have an impact on model y ramp up in both Berlin and Austin."12, probably not more than 18 months, from volume production of the 4680s" - Elon
Fremont Y's 2170.18 months is end of 2022.

Yes. I am now thinking I might get my Plaid+ next year...I thought this was a for sure known thing
I will have to go back and re-listen, but I thought they were talking "fully ramp" 4680s, not initial production.
Lol me to. He obviously meant the logistics which makes sense as the war material had to be shipped from the US to Europe. But I can see the nuance being lost by Elon’s detractors.I'm sure I audibly groaned when he said that just knowing the FUD that is sure to come out there.
I also believe that Elon has been advised over and over again to not be overly optimistic with release dates and actually sand bag thing. I think the FSD beta again taught him a lesson we though he had learned previously. I feel especially when it comes to hardware related production. Cars, factories, batteries, etc. etc. Not to mention software estimating is always a crap shoot and FSD beta is pure software at this point.im sure we will have some 4680s soon. When elon says volume production, i think he is talking VOLUME production. He probably thinks a million vehicles isnt a lot
