The OP was asked the date of manufacture in that thread. He replies "the begin of 2019".

So it's unlikely this is the 'new battery pack', at least not as the car was delivered over a year ago. Either way, 'Oleg' has some 'splaining to do... :p

Didn't you post a screenshot yesterday of a Permit to build a new bty line? Was that permit issued for Fremont (info not included in screenshot; no link to source provided).

Dodger if it is a test mule for a new battery pack it may be a car that was returned under lemon laws, or one that Tesla has lying around for some reason.

Reactions: Artful Dodger
This Unplugged Performance tuned Tesla Model Y just set a blazing fast lap time of 2:01.9 on prototype suspension and brake upgrades. In context the UP tuned Model Y is faster around Buttonwillow than the fastest registered lap time of the Porsche 997 911 Turbo and within half a second of the 997 GT3 track tuned car. All of this done in a crossover SUV that the night before comfortably allowed a full size mattress and a good night’s sleep at the track’s camp site. Good luck trying that in the Porsche!

I wouldn't be surprised if Zeus M3 isn't actually in physical posession of the 100 kWh pack. His Twitter history is rather thin, but on May 14, 2020 he tweeted about buying a scrap MCU: https://twitter.com/zeus7f1/status/1260876636502790144

My understanding is that some of the scrapped Tesla parts people sell on eBay literally come from dumpster divers outside of Fremont.

So it's possible this configuration screen belongs to an MCU that once came from a test mule that later was scraped.

My personal guess is that there is a growing awareness of the potential of Tesla's energy business. Right now most investors are looking at TSLA as essentially an auto company with some associated battery/software/etc side businesses, but the potential market for grid scale battery services is immense and TSLA has the potential to utterly dominate that business.

An essential read from America's leading state for renewable power:

Newcomer Broad Reach Power to deploy increasingly large battery systems in Texas

US-based independent power producer (IPP) Broad Reach Power has said it will build 15 projects in Texas in 2020, each of them just under 10MW / 10MWh, with construction on six of them set to begin this summer.

The remainder are expected to commence construction later in the year, with the sites near the cities of Houston and Odessa in the southern US state. In 2021, the company expects to construct two much larger Texas facilities of 100MW / 100MWh output and capacity each.

Newcomer Broad Reach Power to deploy increasingly large battery systems in Texas

This is a whole new multi-billion dollar market that as of today essentially doesn't exist. (yes, there are a handful of significant grid-scale battery projects but nothing like what will exist in 10 years)
How does this fit in with the Texas legal constraint on battery storage?

Love it! Can't decide if that's a 1st-World problem, or a bladder issue... :p

Cheers to the longs!

9:30am in New York is 3:30am in Honolulu during daylight savings time, thus the early wake up.

Regarding Roy Clark, that drive with his gang in the back of the van changed my life. It really made me aware of what life could be like if you made a living doing something you loved. I never went to law school, as planned, but instead became a pilot.

GS and MS have to try harder to bring down the SP;)
With the Fed buying Corporate bonds now, if Tesla does need capital, why would they 'AJ' it? That's $300M in fees saved for every $2B raised in capital. :D

And I bet the Fed interest rate on those bonds is a tad better than the dilution we get from a cap raise.

Cheers!

If the batteries are used by an energy generator (most likely solar or wind, but there's also nothing stopping a fossil fuel generation plant from using them) it's not an issue. The issue is when the energy provider (e.g. OnCore) tries to use them to help the consumer that the law takes into effect. Of course, it would make more sense for OnCore to use batteries because they get power from many energy generators and could better regulate the storage of electricity, but that would cut into the profits of the peaker generating plants.

There was a bullish engulfing on May 4th also.

Yup, barely engulfed the previous Close with the Opening on May 4th:

So not all full-glorious engulfing, like today... ;)

Cheers!

Despite TSLA comprising more than 10% of three actively managed ARK ETFs, they didn't sell any of its shares today. Perhaps Cathie has reason to let it ride a little longer than she usually does.

i got notice they sold 2755 shares today ... this did not really surprise me

Hmm. FYI, Sometimes I get several versions of the ARK daily trades in a single day due to missing data. Today I only got one and it is a bit longer than the one you posted, Curt. This one does in fact show that they sold some TSLA from ARKW.

Copied from an e-mail I got at 3:14pm PDT:

Edit: Ha! Zero CO2 beat me to it.

Is there anything preventing a startup energy provider from providing peaking services to OnCore (or other energy providers)? I mean, if you can run a profitable fossil fuel peaker plant, why not a profitable battery peaker plant?

I imagine there is a restriction on energy generators (wholesalers) buying electricity? If so, this is another one of those counterproductive protectionistic Texas laws that need to be struck down before Texas can claim to stand for free-market principles. It's crony-capitalism at it's worst.

This is what happens when power is concentrated in the hands of a few wealthy people and the "regular folk" just sit back and admire the rich people and let them do as they please. Which is to say the working people chose to take it up the butt (by being passive about it). It doesn't seem to fit the stereotypical image of the fiercely independent Texan who won't take any BS from anyone.
