My car just moved from one side of the CN autoport parking lot to the another. Hopefully, it means it's moving out today but who knows. It's been sitting at the same spot for 6 days (that I could track). But if I'm to believe the delivery specialist, it's been in that spot for 11 days.

He did make a mention in his email that it could sit on the lot for a while until there are enough cars to ship in the same car to the same place. So thanks green1.
Always happy to help!
Too bad I don't get to track my car the same way (My DS explicitly told me the app would not be active until after delivery)

Hopefully I'm on the same train, let me know when yours heads west!

Yeah that seemed pretty odd to me too but maybe the yard at this end is a delay too?
Either way, I'll try to be patient add long as they stick to their promises.

On a side note, I was specifically told they won't activate the app for me until after delivery, asd913 must have a different DS working by slightly different rules

Belated congratulations, and also to asd913.

youve been pretty active on here for a while so I can imagine this is really exciting. Of course you're vet still got to run the gauntlet that is Tesla deliveries. It can be infuriating but as others have said, once you have the car this will become a distant memory. I know that doesn't help now.
I agree with earlier comments, I think that shipping companies don't really give Tesla much respect. For the Vancouver run they seem to tell Tesla one thing and then tell the owners something different. They would appear to be holding off for other pickups that Tesla wasn't aware of. For some of us owners we have had drivers lie to us about flat tires, etc. compared notes between owners with cars on the same shipment and they were each told different things. To be fair, all the companies probably claim two days for the actual transport, it's other factors that slow things down and they probably all overcommit.
Enabling the app seems sometimes a bit variable. For new cars, they are not supposed to enable access until the car has been officially delivered in my case I took delivery on paper in Vancouver but then they shipped it to Calgary from Vancouver. The app was enabled after I accepted it in Vancouver so I was able to track the car. I'm not sure why asd913 was given access but I think that is not usual.

Have you been honking the horn and flashing the lights to freak everyone out? :)

Lol. Getting the car is my only priority at the moment. I don't want the logistics company to send it back complaining that it's been honking.

I spoke too soon about seeing it move. All that has happened is that the car was moved from one side of the compound to the other this morning. Since then, nothing. It used to be a in a queue of cars. The logistics company must have needed to get to some cars in front or behind my car.

I complained again today but it's getting nowhere. The answer the same as always: we apologize, the logistics company aren't getting back to us, we have to use them, and we can't change the logistics company. The Tesla folks have thrown their hands in the air and have no solutions for me.

Very typical delivery issues. Unfortunately we are still a small market up here in Canada and we are dominated by traditional ICE vehicles. One day when Tesla is more well known and is producing hundreds of thousands of vehicles, they'll get the respect from carriers that they deserve. GPetti, it's funny how you mentioned the whole "flat tire" delay. I was delayed getting my car by a day or two because the fellow driving it here from Vancouver had a "flat tire" that somehow took two days to fix. By the time he arrived I didn't care and just wanted to get my car already haha!

I disagree that the fault is that Tesla is not a big enough name. Individuals get their car across the country without issues by rail in a fraction of the time that Tesla has taken. Me included. I had a car shipped from Seattle to Calgary in two weeks total time.

The realization I've come to from the correspondence I've had is that Tesla management has mandated that my car can only be shipped when the forwarder has enough cars to transport to the same location. This is why my car has been sitting at the Toronto shipping company's compound since the 21st of Sept. It's a cost saving decision. But hey, why worry about customer waiting 20-30 extra days when a few hundred bucks can be saved.

Certainly one of my drivers used the flat tire, followed by some guff about having trouble getting the right tire. A couple of months later when In2Oil and ggenge were getting their cars, I was talking to ggenge and he got the flat tire excuse too. I don't remember all the details but he had told ggenge one thing and in2oil something else. I can't remember how we figured it out but in actual fact he had gone to drop a car in Edmonton first or some such thing.

I remember this feeling well. I seriously considered getting on a plane and flying to Vancouver to pick it up - but every day I thought, "just one more day I'll wait" and it kept going like that for a month. I also didn't want my first drive in the car to be in the mountains in the middle of winter. Frustrating but will be a distant memory soon.

Just watched the Model X - somehow they've made me want one! Looks sweet with the 6-passenger config and white interior, black exterior with black wheels (like Elon's) - that was what I was going for with mine.

An unrelated question:

Getting tires changed out to the snow tires soon. They are already on their rims (from Tesla).... anyone have a recommendation for a tire shop or a service person who comes to your garage? Or do you just do it yourself?
I do it all myself, changing wheels is pretty straight forward, just make sure you get those lug nuts torqued down well, apparently the Tesla likes really high torque there. (I heard 120 ft lb?)
If I were to get someone else to do it, I'd probably take it to Kal Tire, I've had pretty good luck with them on various different vehicles (I use the one on edmonton trail just south of 32nd)

Biggest piece of advice, if getting someone else to do it, make sure it's before the snow flies, because that first snow storm of the year sees all the tire shops absolutely slammed for at least a couple months!

Did it myself in the the spring, not to hard, took about 15 min, just need to turn on "jack mode" if you have air suspension and line up the end of the jack with the lifting points

tools needed:
low profile floor jack + hockey puck (hockey puck keeps the jack from scratching the underside of car)
torque wrench that can do 129 ft-lb's + 21mm socket

Thanks all for your input! I think I might go the Kal Tire route. One of my normal tires seems to be losing air quicker than the others and I keep having to repump frequently. I think I'll ask them to repair it too if possible after putting snow tires on. Thanks for the nice offers to help me out in your garages too!

So I was thinking about doing another meet-up in Calgary or Canmore this Sunday but with the weather being such as it is I think next weekend would be better. So... I'm proposing we either meet somewhere in Calgary next Sunday to meet some of the new Tesla owners and share opinions on the Model X ;) or we can go for lunch at our favorite spot in Canmore?

Date: Sunday, October 11th
Location: TBD (I vote for Canmore or somewhere near Chinook Centre so I have an excuse to visit the temp mall location)

Thoughts?

Next sunday (11th) works well for me. I'm pretty easy as far as meeting spot, the only tidbit I'd add is to pick somewhere perhaps a bit picturesque and/or with some pedestrian traffic flow.

Thanks for putting the suggestion out there 3!

I also change mine myself in my garage. You're welcome to come over to do it one day

3s-a-charm, how often do you take them in for alignment? I'm thinking of changing mine at home as well. I'd need the jack and tools. And if you do go in to a tire place, do you tell them about the lift points or is it obvious for them to locate?

Been a while since I've been in here, apologies for that. Our car has been amazing since we took delivery back on March 31. We now have 26000KM's on the car and are scheduled for our first service sometime this month.

We have a Disneyland trip planned for November, and are looking forward to that trip. The car is unbelievable so far. Maybe we will catch up at one of the Canmore meets this winter.

Just saying hello, again.

Hi M1ker, I only got my car in January 2015 so no alignment yet. It came with the winters on and I changed to summers and will change back soon (as soon as I need to because I'd prefer to leave the summers on as long as possible). I've never been concerned that the alignment changes much - perhaps I should?? And the lift points are obvious - I think if you tell them they will look at you funny - like telling a brain surgeon where the head is :).

Disney should be fun (the drive anyways ;)) - this car is so fun on the highway. I took my family of 4 and the dog to the Okanagan this summer no problem but we did pack light.

I have a slow leak in my front-right tire so I may change sooner than later so I can take in the leaky tire but for now I'll stop and top it up from time to time.

@footbag... scenic - hmmm. Let me think about that a bit.

Funny, I have a slow, actually very slow leak on my front tire. It's really slow eak, perhaps once a month.

i am up for a meet next week, as long as the weather cooperates.

on another note, who is upgrading to ludicrous. I am.

i don't have any issues on my tesla yet, however I have the proverbial vapor haze on my real backup lights, drives me mad! As well I am experiencing some body flexing noses which in not very nice coming from a 150k car. Tesla has been quite slow at addressing the problem.

My slow leak turned out to be TWO roofing nails. I felt a little silly driving around with them in there, to Alberta and back, etc. If they'd let go, I would have been stuck but good.

My lesson - if you're seeing leakage, get it checked. There will be a reason. Better to address it at the tire shop than the side of the road. Next time I see unaccounted air loss, I'll be heading for the shop!
