With more cars on the road with longer ranges and the ability to utilize >120kW of power, Tesla may not expand Lovelock due to its proximity to Winnemucca and lack of available locations to expand.
Lovelock will remain for the declining number of older models and for those who wish to drive station-to-station.
Or perhaps Tesla will simply replace the four v2 with 4v3 and call it quits at Lovelock.
Or maybe Tesla will opt for curtain #3 with the lovely Carol Merrill.
When I drove through in 2019, one of the four was broken. Heading east, I was the only one there - so no big deal. Heading west, there was a bit of a queue. Not a fan of the site location, either.
Just left this Supercharger. As reported above, four new V3 stalls in addition to the four V2. While we were charging, power was lost. A worker came over and explained that while they install the new transformer, the old stalls are running on a generator, which just overheated and shut itself down. It was exactly 100°.
Just needs to be updated when the new stalls open imo. And I believe what you are saying is the new stalls are being worked on but not yet open, right?
Also, what was the end result of the generator being shut off. Did they turn it back on? Were you able to charge enough to get to your next stop?

Yes, the new stalls are not open. They were working on the transformer, suggesting it could be soon!
They were waiting for the generator to cool (in 100° heat) enough to be restarted. We had enough charge by that point to limp on to Wells, keeping speed to 65 in an 80. As we drove from Winnemucca to Wells, there was a red message on the screen about a Supercharger being temporarily closed on our route. About 45 minutes later that message spontaneously cleared, so we guess that’s when the generator restarted.
Hey, folks! I drove through here going westbound on Sunday, July 11th 2021 with a Model Y. Tried out one of the new stalls and saw more than 200kW, so the new v3 spots are up and running. When I came through going east a few weeks earlier the new stalls were still under construction, so definitely an improvement through there.
Perhaps we should change the title of this thread to mention the fact that Winnemucca has been expanded from four v2 to an additional four v3 Superchargers?
