Supercharger - Brooks, Alberta

Nice option for those heading to/from Dinosaur Provincial Park. Made it to Bassano on the return trip back to Calgary once with 4% in poor weather, which was perfect for maximum speed but a bit puckering as a first timer. Would love to see some fast charging options in Drumheller too…

Yes, I'm especially curious about this given the surprise Kindersley news. We just drove Calgary-Saskatoon roundtrip last week in our MY LR, and had to follow the TCH to Swift Current, then north to Rosetown over to Saskatoon - a 180 km one way distance penalty, 90+ minutes.
While Brooks isn't on anyone's typical Calgary-Saskatoon route - in combination with Kindersley (285 km from Brooks) it would already reduce that mileage penalty to more like 45 km one way (Calgary-Brooks is 190 km; Brooks-Kindersley 285 km; Kindersley-Saskatoon 200 km), without needing Hanna or Drumheller (which are also still needed!). Bassano-Kindersley isn't 100% doable, esp. in cold temps or high winds, and Medicine Hat-Kindersley is still quite a mileage/time penalty. It's embarrassing as a Tesla owner not to be able to drive direct from Calgary, to the next nearest major metro area to the east - Saskatoon.

Yeah the lack of L2 right at Tyrell parking lot makes no sense. It would be at least workaround-able if Drum had L3... But both are needed.
There is apparently now a L3 in Drum at the Western GM. Just a single unit, which apparently delivers a maximum of 177A so I suspect a ceiling of ~75kW for 400V architecture vehicles, and ~100kW for "800V" (more like 600V) vehicles. Feel free to check my math!

Better than nothing, and L2s at the Tyrell would be preferred but are MIA. A detour through Strathmore remains available as a bailout.

I am also excited to see this L3 in Drumheller. Not excited for yet another app to download, but I'll use it so that I don't have to drive less than 100km/h all the way to Kindersley this weekend.

Have a backup plan in case this lone new unit won't activate. I find it really difficult to get excited about installations like this - no redundancy, could be in use, could be blocked by a vehicle, etc.
