Stuck on 6amp charging.

My 2014 switched itself to 6amp a couple minutes after plugging into a public level 2 charger and wouldn't allow it to be adjusted back up. Waited about 5 minutes to let it correct itself but had to unplug and start over. No problems afterwards.
It was 67f and the car hadn't run for hours before a 1/4 mile trip to the charger.
Have used the same charger off and on for 3 years.
Could this be a symptom of a failing onboard charger?

Not at 6A it probably isn't a onboard charger.

It's probably the Public Charger having issues. Have you tried others?

The car will drop the charging current when it sees the voltage dropping. Evidently it's dropping quite a bit at that location.

Also, if a J-1772, check your adapter for any burned, melted or charred pins on both sides.
