I live on a golf course, and we occasionally have sliced shots land in the yard, on the roof, etc. So far, so good. My parents live on the CT shore, and they have had more than a few oysters dropped on the roof from sea gulls (the fly up and drop them, then fly down and eat the meat from the broken shells)
If you live in a snowy area, just beware that when they shed, a whole bunch of snow dumps off the roof at once (like having a metal roof). My mom's car (parked next to the house) needed major bodywork after getting dumped on after a major snowstorm.
