It was a chore to clean, for sure. I used one of those honeycomb soft scrubbers after doing an initial clean -- did a great job with tar and bugs. (Amazon.com: Safe Scrub Bug Tar Pad: Automotive if needed) It looks like the sort of thing you would never use on the car, but the structure somehow scoopes off the difficult grime without being abrasive.
While not filthy, that is sand. Big storm at the beach plastered it with sand and salt water. Killed me to not touch it for days (so I wouldn't scratch the crap out of it) until I could get it home and wash it properly.

Had to get my S85 washed today because, guess what, it rained a couple days ago here in the SF Bay Area. Looking at these pictures makes me think I should have put $16.99 in my daughter's piggy bank instead.
