rusty brake rotors after washing car

hey guys...

after washing my car, i get rusty brake rotors. On a gas car I usually drive the car around a few miles and applying the brakes takes off the rust.

On this MXLR it never applies the brakes long enough to get rid of the rust on the rotors.

Can I get into the service menu to activate the brakes?

You could accelerate hard and press the brakes hard. I sometimes do that after washing the car.

I tried that but it's not working. Is there a way to turn off regenerative braking?

That is a normal thing with any car. It also happens on rainy day. Water and metal = rust. In some case, you will hear a loud noise when reversing after the rainy day. That is when the break is breaking free. You can simply apply/use break a little bit when driving around. I know, the regen break is on. You can still use a break. That should clear out the rust on the rotor.

Yes, you can change the amount of regen in the regular settings. Sorry, not sure where on a MY as the MX is a little different.

As a preventative measure you can apply a product like this -

Water-borne migratory and contact corrosion inhibitor.

People have good results on disc brakes and given we barely use ours it should last a while and prevent that rust forming in the first place.

I recommend Bilt Hamber stuff, it's all I use on my car.

There's an option to turn off regen in order to bed the brakes in the service menu.

Another option is to get carbon ceramic brakes
