Sending a tech from San Francisco should be here by 5 o'clock and who knows how soon after that the SC will be up
Can you post when it's back up? Hoping to charge there in a few hours from now as well... thnx!
Is the single supercharger on the other side of the plaza by the Shell/Subway down too? I thought that one was isolated from the others.
Makes me proud!Everyone was cooperating and only taking the amount needed to get them to the next station.
Your point is well taken. However, there were 5 Teslas there and the one supercharger and one roadster charger at the Shell station were occupied. I wanted to get something out quickly to those who may be heading toward Harris Ranch and, at the time I posted, I wasn't aware that the other chargers were available.Perhaps a mod can change the title since the OP has indicated the Shell supercharger is operational, meaning Harris was never "entirely down".
Exactly what I was thinking. The superchargers don't have to be smart enough to take a payment, but they should at least report their status like Blink or Chargepoint do.This really points to a need for some notification system when that happens. Harris Ranch is a long way from anywhere...
I think we are all participants in the Tesla Supercharger beta program. Bells and whistles won't be provided until the underlying technology is sorted out. But it does seem to point to using 101 due to prevalence of Rabobank chargers. The supercharger highway almost let me down completely!
Harris Ranch update.
Thursday afternoon I arrived to discover 4 of the supercharger bays without power.
As you can imagine I was quite alarmed when I plugged in and saw the message no power!
Being a technician I selected the farthest units away from the main station.
So I personally did not have to plug into five different plugs to figure this out.
But I did watch others tried them out!
This condition made me cut my trip short and get back to Harris Ranch
earlier than previously planned to make sure I would not get caught up
in the shortfall of charging capability.
When I arrived Sunday at noon I was glad to see the Shell station
supercharger not occupied so I thought I would be in good shape.
The people at Harris Ranch are wonderful, and helpful
please do business with the merchants there.
A few minutes later I was greeted by another tesla owner
looking for a place to charge, they had plugged in
to one of the out of service units,
I directed them to try the end units I had used on Thursday.
They were successful in picking up a charge their.
They caught up to me at the grapevine charging station.
And were looking to use my spot because all of those charging stations
were fully occupied.
I'm starting to think I made a mistake buying this car.
If this network isn't going to pan out!
We absolutely need a status reporting system.
So we can know if it's safe to take our electric car on a journey
up to 5 freeway.
Indicating busy and off-line status of charging resources.
Based on the grapevine occupancy on Sunday afternoon early.
I'm really concerned about the viability of this transport system.
It doesn't feel reliable right now first trip up to Stockton.
I was so proud to share this electric journey with the people in my ski club,
spreading the tesla message.
If I start driving up there on gas in the future it's going to send a real message.
And one of the people in the ski club is high up in the space X organization.
So they will definitely get an ear full from me who bought this car
on the ability to do this journey.
Will definitely check this thread before setting out in a few weeks for the same journey.
Concur! We absolutely need a status reporting system...
Indicating busy and off-line status of charging resources.
