Old Tesla Model S Drive Unit Failure No Warranty Out of Pocket Question

Hello, I had my Drive Unit replaced out of warranty so paid the $8,000 to replace it. I was told by service that the part would come with a 4 year warranty once purchased. I now sold the car and the new owner is saying that is not true. Can anyone help me understand where I can find the warranty agreement?

Sorry, to clarify. my car was out of warranty, then I paid to have the drive unit replaced. The service advisor said the paid drive unit would have the 4 year 50k warranty for the part itself.

Ah ok thank you! Is that 50,000 miles on the new part? My car is over 50k miles in general.

Yes. Parts replaced under warranty are only warrantied for the remainder of that warranty. Parts you buy have these "Parts" warranties. If you buy a HV battery instead of having it replaced under warranty, the Parts warrant would apply for that battery. If a HV battery is replaced free under the original car warranty, it is only good for the remainder of the original car warranty.

i'm not sure how parts warranty is invoked when car changes hands, i'd hope tesla has those records by VIN
but maybe it would help to provide the invoice u have to the next owner...
