Mystery rising tone from speakers

While driving on the highway the car speakers made several series of “sine wave frequency sweeps” according to one nerd in the car. The other nerd calls it 4 rising tones repeating every 30 seconds.

After about 6 series repetitions, it was replaced by a “wind roar” out of the speakers.

Noises were concurrent with the radio and also without the stereo on at all. No alerts activated. We rebooted after charging and after 5 minutes on the highway noises haven’t restarted. 🤞🏼

We are a 2023 MSLR running 2024.2.13.

Any thoughts?

The theory that this is part of the noise cancelling system makes sense to us. Thankfully, it stopped after doing a thumbwheel reboot and hasn’t reappeared.

In other road trip news, we DIY repaired our first rock chip using an American Windshield Repair Systems kit today. Kit had everything we needed except a little drill so we picked that up at Harbor Freight and the whole process was pretty smooth. Feels good to be able to deal with these things ourselves when we are putting down the miles and heading into yet another weather change!
