Model Y trunk slams sometimes but not always??

My 2023 Model YLR rear trunk sometimes sounds like it is slamming closed and other times it closes fairly gently. In both cases it closes and then tightens down.

Nothing is in the way and it seems to be totally random.

Anybody else experienced this? Fix? Thoughts?

Same thing happens with my 2022. I've just learned to live with pushing the button and quickly diving out of the way

It’s because you have a door open, then it “slams” close.

When all your doors are closed, it’s a “soft” close.

I figured it’s something to do with air pressure or some other vague reason.

Mine doesn't close at a different speed like it sounds like yours does. It's just that last inch or so that either is quiet or slams. I think karkrazy may be correct. I'm gonna check it out tomorrow

My silly way of rationalizing it is like this - when all doors/windows are closed, you can’t slam the hatch down as you’d be creating an overpressure situation and Tesla being Tesla, a window, glass or other area under pressure will pop (whatever that means). Thus the “soft” close.
You read stuff about folks complaining about ear pressure pain in the cabin and adjusting the hatch fixes it, so….

Tried it multiple times today with another door open or closed. That's not it unfortunately. Sometimes with the door open it slams, other times it's a nice soft close. Same with the door closed??? Go figure. I tried adjusting the bumpers on the lid but that didn't work either.

Try it when doors are locked. And when doors are unlocked state
