Model S Factory Ramp - Speculation

Very interesting tidbit from this story in Sunday's NY Times:

"Tesla says it expect to deliver 5,300 Model S sedans in 2012, and another 20,000 next year."

I would expect that the NY Times would have gotten this information directly from Tesla, and it clearly says "5,300" and "delivered" for 2012.

This Summer, Electric Cars Are Merging Into California's Traffic

I'm sure they pulled it from the Tesla shareholder meeting slides. Those slides showed 5300 cars delivered in 2012, but that was the total of Model S and Roadsters. Many people in the investor thread didn't read the fine print either and assumed that 5300 Model Ss were being delivered in 2012, but we quickly realized that 300 of those were Roadsters. Easy mistake to make.
