May AWD/Performance Orders -- VIN / Status Thread

My VIN appears to be wrong.

Here are the first 5 characters of my VIN - 5YJ3E1EB

Look at that 8th digit!!!! "B"?

Can anyone verify the following for the 8th digit?

8: Motor/Drive Unit

1 – single motor, standard
3 – single motor, performance
2 – dual motor, standard
4 – dual motor, performance <-----------I'm supposed to have a 4 . Do P100D model S's have a 4 in the eighth digit?
A – single motor, standard
B – dual motor, standard

What in the world is this? I am - all buttons checked - performance Model 3 of the performance version with EAP and FSD!!!!!!.

I have a Dual Motor Performance, that also has a B in the 8th spot.

hmmmmm. I've got nothin. Good question: I don't know.

You certainly won't be able to tell via the VIN.

However if you look at it....you can't tell in the Model S and X VIN either.

Not sure what you are trying to say but we are talking about the $5k package.

Your VIN is correct. AWD drivetrain is mechanically identical to P3D, so no reason to differentiate for the P models. Be happy your insurance will be cheaper

Or AWD gets charged at P premium..

Same drivetrain and a binary digit flip from 0 to 1. Nothing wrong with this of course.

You got performance upgrade package? I believe they are currently only making non PP with black interior and PP with white interior.

As today is Sunday, meaning no sales in Colorado by law, I figured I could get some solid photos of any new shipment deliveries. Went to the Littleton, CO delivery/service center today and found the highest VIN I’ve seen out for delivery. It belongs to a Multi-Coat White Performance Model 3. VIN 74492. Build quality was immaculate and the brilliant white interior looked amazing. Just thought I’d post, there were about 8 Performance Model 3’s in the lot. Only 3 had the 20 inch wheels and white interior, 2 Multi-Coat Red and this one.

Owner is Adam and will be very happy on the 7th of August, haha! Jealous!!

thanks for sharing! it looks like the spoilers (and i assume the badges) were not installed on the P3Ds? i ordered that exact white P3D but I haven’t heard a peep yet, but I can hope that one is mine.

Yeah, the order page says the spoiler and pedal covers will be installed after delivery.

Have you guys tried the console trick on the order summary page? It would show you your VIN if you had one.

Order page has actually updated that the pedal covers are no longer installed after delivery, so they come installed. Hopefully by the time I take delivery of mine the spoiler will also come installed.

There needs to be a new statistic. How many days from edit button disappearing to delivery specialist calling. If I don’t get a phone call this week I may have a meltdown. My edit button has been gone for a week and a half. Ordered on June 29th.

After an anxiety-inducing hiccup with the payment portal on the MyTesla page (I'll tell the story on the next podcast) this morning, I had a great delivery day today of VIN 554xx! A few little things they mostly took care of. My right headlight isn't flush on the bottom side (towards the ground), they looked at it and called it "within spec" but said I could take it to a service center later. I'll honestly probably stop caring about it after a day or two.

Fremont ran way behind and there was a part they were swapping on my car at the last second, so double combo delay for me, but everyone was super nice, fellow customers waiting for delivery were great to chat with, and since it was delivered with half a charge, we went over to the Factory to Supercharge up to about 80% or so. The Sport launch felt pretty great after that -- even with 3 adults and a 7-year-old in the car.

I'm obviously biased to what I ordered but HOLY CRAP the white interior is amazing, IMO. My car JUMPED out in the parking lot amongst all the others. I love the interior!! The white door infill panel is the same vegan synthetic material as the seats, vs. the (also awesome) black alcantara in that spot in the black interior cars. I like the smooth, ceramic-looking white dashboard trim piece too. I'm pleased to present (shout-out to fellow Pixar's Up fans), "The Spirit of Adventure"!

On Saturday afternoon I checked my account and the page had a change. The payment portion which had been grey changed to yellow and asked me to enter my bank information for my loan, I'm going through my credit union. Once I did that it asked me to confirm all my other information. I did everything it asked and my Edit Design link was gone.
