I had the same issue where the air would not direct up to my face, it would just blow on my knees. I booked my MYP in for service, and the Tesla mechanic said to remove my dash inlays that I added. I didn't believe this could cause the issue, as they were so thin and didn't block the vents, but I removed them anyway (the double sided tape holding them on came off easily). To my surprise, the air could now be directed to my face!

Don't get me wrong, the Tesla air flow is still pretty weak, but at least I can direct to to my face now.
