See if you can find a body shop that actually repairs rather than replaces parts.
I'm not so sure such a place exists. I am currently dealing with a mess where a repair shop hoisted my current vehicle in to something in their shop, end result is a small hole and a bit of a dent in my roof. every shop I talk to wants to replace the whole roof, none are willing to pull out a welder and some sheet metal and fix a 1"x1/4" hole.

It's a common theme in almost anything these days. Nothing is ever repaired any more, parts are replaced, that's it.
 
It's ok, you're not alone. My wife curbed one wheel and had a wheel repair guy fix it yesterday. Then we went out for dinner and she curbed both wheels while parallel parking!!! Only after 3 hours after it being repaired - frustrated.!
