My Wall Connector arrived yesterday, but I'm still not in production. They have me as Late October so I would have thought it would need to go into production very soon. I noticed on the main forum people are taking deliveries of VIN52xxx vehicles, would have though that production would be in VIN order (I'm 48036).

Don't trust the dashboard too much. Mine still says "...building your Model S", but according to the Delivery Specialist my car finished production. Estimated delivery for me on the dashboard is still October, but according to the DS and Tesla's "official" email it will be early November.
The best is to call your DS to find out.

I called my DS this afternoon and was clearly told the following in the conversation,

1/ My car is finished production
2/ my car has not been produced
3/ my car is going into production today
4/ my car will be made today

5/ my delivery is now Mid November
6/ my delivery is Late October

7/ The there is a backlog of cars waiting to go to Hong Kong ( how many ships are there out there? )
8/ It takes 4 weeks to check the car has been made correctly and then be prepared for shipping

This was a pathetic effort and I stress I was told all this in the one conversation. It is not acceptable. I have not received an email discussing delivery.

I will be writing direct to Jerome to find out what is happening with my delivery.

@Lerxt:
Really crazy. Would be quite mad too.
Last week, when I have been informed, that my car completed production and delivery will be early November, I asked why it takes 2 months for transportation and registration. I have been informed my car still has to go through "testing". I'm sure that's just a lame excuse. The obvious reason is, they bundle a certain amount of cars into one shipment for logistic, and obviously cost saving reasons. Nothing wrong with that. Would be just nice, if the would inform us openly and not give any "invented" excuses.

I'd rather not mention names in a public forum.

I think they should give the shipping company a call, I'm sure they have freight ships going to HK more than once a month. I have friends who are looking closely at buying a Tesla and they are quite put off by experiences like this.

Of course I want my car as soon as possible and am not happy that it delayed from original July to November, but from all what I read here and on other forums, Tesla is notoriously bad in keeping dates. We have to face it, and hopefully once we get the car we will be so happy to forget all the delays we endured.

wow!!

When I ordered my tesla in Aug, they told me delivery is latest by Q4 or early Q1. On the same day, when I talked to my friend who is getting his MS this month, was informed by the delivery team that for any Q3 order, minimum wait is 9 months.

btw, when did you guys find the VIN number? when the car is in production?

Tony, you will get a VIN when they really put it in the production queue. It took me 3 months to get it. I understand delays, I don't like being snowed for any reason at all. Just tell me what is going on. They must know my now exactly when my car is scheduled to be produced and what date the ship is planned to sail. I sugest you be prepared for up to 8-12 months wait.

Just realised that AppleFan and I are just 64 VIN numbers apart and we both ordered 60kW, but mine is still in production queue. So much for "production is done in batches" according to my DS. Also, Lerxt, my VIN is 47259.

So VIN numbers and when you ordered are irrelevant to Tesla. It's quite clear to me that despite some people here ordering ages ago they still want to deliver cars to US customers within 2 months but are quite ok with HK waiting a year. There are people in with VIN 52xxx finished production while 47/48000 VINs are still waiting, so why issue the VIN at all, to the customer, if it is meaningless? All it tells us is where we are in the (perceived) queue.

Obviously they are trying to get home deliveries as high as possible to pump up 3rd quarter deliveries while we wait.

My DS informed told me that the dashboard delivery estimates are "controlled in the US" and are optimistic. Actual deliveries are expected later than what is shown on the dashboard.

Then again my DS also told me they couldn't explain why it takes 10+ weeks post production to deliver it. Nor could they tell me where the car was located 3 weeks after production with the multiple choice test of a) California, b) boat, c) Hong Kong, d) other.

With production taking only 2-4 days from what I can infer from my experience and others on the forum, our bottleneck is not production, but everything afterwards.

Currently I have a delivery range quoted from late September to mid October. If they make it November it will be two years from when I paid the deposit!
